    • A process and system are disclosed for detecting in particular metallic objects in large-surface search areas (1) and may be advantageously used in particular for detecting abandoned hazardous objects. The process, that allows shape, size, orientation, depth and type of material of the search objects to be identified, uses at least one search signal-generating search probe (eddy current probe (15) and/or magnetic field probe) that is moved in relation to the search area (1), preferably in a substantially parallel direction to its surface, along a search path located on a search surface. At least one evaluation unit (20) connected to the search probe so as to receive is signals automatically allocates the search signals to positions of the search probe on the search surface determined by localisation means (4 to 7) and converts the signals into an image of the objects in the search area. The image may for example be a map of the location of the searched objects.

    • The invention relates to a flight guidance system for low-flying aircraft. A base image is provided by the natural vision of the pilot or produced by means of a sensor, this being an image of the scene in front of the aircraft. The invention also comprises a navigation system for determining earth-fixed co-ordinates and the position of the aircraft; a remote image sensor for three-dimensional detection of the scene in front of the aircraft and a flight guidance unit which generates a safety line over said base image on a display, using the data from the navigation system as well as the laser radar. Said safety line is a measure of the minimum ascent path required by the aircraft to avoid collision in the desired flight direction for a given aircraft climbing capacity.
