    • Process for making a copolymer by copolymerising (1) ethylene with (2) at least one aliphatic C 3 -C 20 alpha-olefins and (3) at least one C 4 to C 30 conjugated or non-conjugated diene, by contacting with a catalyst comprising (a) a transition metal compound of Formula (A), and (b) an activating quantity of a suitable activator, groups R 1 and R 2 are -R a , -OR b , -NR c R d , and NHR e : groups R a , R b , R c , R d , and R e , and group R 3 are (i) aliphatic hydrocarbon, (ii) alicyclic hydrocarbon, (iii) aromatic hydrocarbon, (iv) alkyl substituted aromatic hydrocarbon (v) heterocyclic groups or (vi) heterosubstituted derivatives of said groups (i) to (v); M is a Group 3 to 11 or a lanthanide metal; E is phosphorus or arsenic; X is an anionic group, L is a neutral donor group; n is 1 or 2, y and z are independently zero or integers such that the number of X and L groups satisfy the valency and oxidation state of the metal M. The process is useful for making elastomeric polymers.
