摘要： A supported transition metal complex comprising (a) a vanadium metal complex having at least one atom selected from boron, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus, sulphur and selenium, covalently bonded to (b) a particulate inorganic support material. The support material and complex have complimentary groups, eg -OH and alkylsilyl, which react to form a covalent bond to fix the complex on the support. The complexes are useful for making catalysts, preferably with an organoaluminium or organoboron cocatalyst, for polymerisation of olefinic monomers. The complex ligands preferably contain an imidazole group coordinated to the transition metal.

摘要： Process for making a copolymer by copolymerising (1) ethylene with (2) at least one aliphatic C 3 -C 20 alpha-olefins and (3) at least one C 4 to C 30 conjugated or non-conjugated diene, by contacting with a catalyst comprising (a) a transition metal compound of Formula (A), and (b) an activating quantity of a suitable activator, groups R 1 and R 2 are -R a , -OR b , -NR c R d , and NHR e : groups R a , R b , R c , R d , and R e , and group R 3 are (i) aliphatic hydrocarbon, (ii) alicyclic hydrocarbon, (iii) aromatic hydrocarbon, (iv) alkyl substituted aromatic hydrocarbon (v) heterocyclic groups or (vi) heterosubstituted derivatives of said groups (i) to (v); M is a Group 3 to 11 or a lanthanide metal; E is phosphorus or arsenic; X is an anionic group, L is a neutral donor group; n is 1 or 2, y and z are independently zero or integers such that the number of X and L groups satisfy the valency and oxidation state of the metal M. The process is useful for making elastomeric polymers.

摘要： A polymerisation catalyst comprising (1) a nitrogen-containing transition metal compound of Formula (A), and (2) an organoaluminium or hydrocarbylboron activator, wherein either (a) R and R are monovalent groups or (b) R and R integrally form a divalent group R bridging the terminal nitrogen atoms of the triazene unit via carbon atoms; R and R and the divalent group R are (i) aliphatic hydrocarbon, (ii) alicyclic hydrocarbon, (iii) aromatic hydrocarbon, (iv) alkyl substituted aromatic hydrocarbon (v) heterocyclic groups and (vi) heterosubstituted derivatives of said groups (i) to (v); M is a metal from Group 3 to 11 of the Periodic Table or a lanthanide metal; X is an anionic group, L is a neutral donor group; n is 1 or 2, y and z are independently zero or integers such that the number of X and L groups satisfy the valencyand oxidation state of the metal M. The catalyst is used to polymerise 1-olefins especially ethylene and propylene. High molecular weight homo- and co-polypropylene are disclosed.

M is a metal from Group 3 to 11 or lanthanide. E 1 and E 2 are divalent hydrocarbon groups. D 1 and D 2 are donor atoms or groups; X is an anionic group, L is a neutral donor group; n = m = zero or 1; y and z are zero or integers such that the number of X and L groups satisfy the valency and oxidation state of the metal M. The process provides good incorporation of the cyclic comonomer.
