摘要： An implantable fluid distribution device (32;132;300) is described. The device includes a first inlet (40;310) for receiving fluid under pressure from a remote pump (30;130). A plurality of outlets (50;312) are also provided, each outlet being connectable to a fluid delivery catheter (36). A valve mechanism (42;150;170;190;200) is arranged to control the passage of fluid from the first inlet to the plurality of outlets. Apparatus including the fluid distribution device, an implantable pump (30;130) and a plurality of drug delivery catheters (36) is also described. The fluid distribution device (32;132;300) can be used to delivery drug to multiple regions in the body and the sequential delivery of drugs to different sites in the brain is disclosed.

摘要： A neurosurgical catheter (30) is described for insertion into the brain parenchyma (10) of a subject. The catheter (30) comprises a flexible tube (32) and has a stiff, non-porous, tip (36) comprising at least one fluid delivery aperture. The stiff tip of the catheter may be mechanically stiffer than the flexible tube. The stiff tip (36) may be provided by a stiff tube (34) attached to the distal end of the flexible tube (32). The stiff tube (34) may comprise a ceramic (e.g fused silica) and/or a metal. A kit comprising the catheter (30) and a guide tube (102) is also described. Methods of catheter (30) implantation are also outlined.

摘要： An RF coil assembly (70) for use with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) apparatus is described. The RF coil assembly (70) comprises one or more coil elements (30, 32, 34, 36; 50, 52, 54, 56, 58, 60; 72, 74, 76, 78) capable of receiving electromagnetic radiation and is capable of being directly attached to a stereotactic base ring (84). The RF coil assembly may comprise a localiser box (10) having fiducial markers (22). A corresponding attachment apparatus (86) is also described for optimising the attachment position of a stereotactic base ring (84) to a subject's head. The attachment apparatus (86) comprises one or more fixing elements (85) that allow the attachment apparatus (86) to be releasably attached to a stereotactic base ring (84). In one embodiment, the internal dimensions of the attachment apparatus (86) are selected to be substantially the same as the internal dimensions of an RF coil assembly (70). Corresponding methods are also described.
