摘要： A process increasing the yield of both HCN and acetonitrile produced during the manufacture of acrylonitrile comprising introducing a hydrocarbon selected from the group consisting of propylene and propane, a crude ketone and/or a mixture of at least two ketones, ammonia and air, into a reaction zone containing an ammoxidation catalyst, reacting the hydrocarbon, the ketone, ammonia and oxygen over said catalyst at an elevated temperature to produce acrylonitrile, hydrogen cyanide and acetonitrile, and recovering the acrylonitrile, hydrogen cyanide and acetonitrile from the reactor.

摘要： Novel copolymers and terpolymers of the amide-imide type are prepared from tricarboxylic acid anhydride compounds, N,N'-diacylated diamines, N-acylated diamines, and primary diamines. These copolymers and terpolymers are useful for preparing injection molded articles of superior properties. A novel process for the manufacture of amide-imide copolymers and terpolymers is disclosed wherein the imide, imide-imide, amide, and amide-amide moieties incorporated into the polymer backbone can be controlled by acylating the amine functionality which is to form the amide and amide-amide moieties while reacting directly those diamines with a tricarboxylic anhydride compound which are intended to form the imide and imide-imide moieties.

摘要： Compositions of matter and catalyst compositions effective for gas-phase conversion of propane to acrylic acid (via oxidation) or to acrylonitrile (via ammoxidation) and isobutane to methacrylic acid (via oxidation) and isobutane to methacrylonitrile (via ammoxidation) are disclosed. Preferred catalyst compositions comprise molybdenum, vanadium, niobium, antimony and germanium and molybdenum, vanadium, tantalum, antimony, and germanium. Methods of preparing such compositions and related compositions, including hydrothermal synthesis methods are also disclosed. The preferred catalysts convert propane to acrylic acid and/or to acrylonitrile and isobutane to methacrylic acid/methacrylonitrile with a yield of at least about 50 %.

In the improvement of this invention, the hydraulic means for moving the bit into drilling engagement comprises a new flow restrictor valve (147). This flow restrictor valve has an orifice (159) and a slender pointed rod (151) for restricting the flow of fluid through the orifice. Opposing spring means (153) and control fluid means engage the rod for controlling its movement toward and away from the orifice. A method of sidewall coring is also disclosed.

摘要： A process for the recovery of unreacted ammonia from the effluent from a reaction zone used to produce acrylonitrile or methacrylonitrile comprising quenching the reactor effluent with an aqueous solution of ammonium phosphate in at least two stages, thereby capturing the ammonia component of the effluent. The captured ammonia may be recovered by heating the aqueous ammonium phosphate, which then may be recycled. Contaminants present in the aqueous ammonium phosphate may be removed, for example by solvent extraction or wet oxidation, prior to recycle.
