    • A tie down assembly (10) including a cup (12), a cross-shaped crossbar (14) that is fastened removably to and positioned within a recess (36) of the cup (12), and a discshaped plate (16) that is fastened removably to the cup (12) and/or the crossbar (14). The crossbar (14) is fastened to the cup (12) by a plurality of fasteners (18), while the plate (16) is fastened to the cup (12) and/or the crossbar (14) by at least one fastener (18). The cup (12) is installed within a hole formed within a first surface (94) of a structure (92), and the plate (16) is positioned against an opposite surface (96) of the structure (92). When the plate (16) is attached, a compressive load is introduced and squeezes the first and second surfaces (94, 96) of the structure (92) together, such that most of the load is borne down the center of the fastener (18) attaching the plate (12).

    • A tie down assembly (10) adapted to be installed within a structure (58) includes a cup (12) and a crossbar (14) that is fastened removably to the cup (12) by a plurality of fasteners (16). The cup (12) includes a recess (24) forming an interior surface (26), and a plurality of seats (30) extending from the interior surface (26). The crossbar (14) includes a central portion (48) and a plurality of elongated members (44) extending therefrom. Each of the members (44) includes a head (52) that engages a corresponding one of the seats (30) of the cup (12) and is secured to the seat (30) by one of the fasteners (16). The central portion (48) of the crossbar (14) may include a central aperture (127) that receives one of the fasteners (16) for an additional attachment point to the cup (12). The crossbar (14) is adapted to receive tie down hooks, connectors, and the like. When the crossbar (14) requires repair or replacement, it may be removed from the cup (12) by unfastening the fasteners (16) without the need to remove the cup (12) from the structure (58).
