    • Compensation of a signal using resonators as well as related methods and devices are described. Some embodiments include methods and devices for performing frequency compensation on a signal. In particular a device is described, which comprises a primary resonating structure (102) having a first output signal, a reference resonating structure (104), a comparison element (110) configured to compare a characteristic (e.g. frequency) of the primary resonating structure to a characteristic (e.g. frequency) of the reference resonating structure and to provide an output related to a comparison between the characteristics and a compensation circuit (112) adapted to adjust the first output signal from the primary resonating structure (e.g. in its frequency) based on the output from the comparison element. As an alternative characteristics of different modes of a single resonating structure may be compared. The device may be used in a timing oscillator, and the resonators may be realized as mechanical or electrical resonators.
