    • A contaminated carrier liquid in a chamber (1) is cleaned by adding thereto oil particles having a charge and a composition that induces the formation of an hydroxide floc to form an intermediate filtering layer (13) in the chamber (1). A top clean oil layer is recovered and a bottom clean aqueous layer is recovered. The intermediate layer (13) can be treated to form a composition that can be recycled to form an hydroxide floc. Process for automizing a liquid to form liquid particles having a size between about 0,5 and 15 microns which comprises subjecting said liquid to a pressure of at least about 400 atmospheres in a closed space, passing said pressurized liquid through at least one orifice into a non-pressurized fluid to explosively shatter and to form said liquid particles.
