摘要： A supply of lancets (28) for a multi-use lancing device are carried by a tape (22) and sequentially brought from a storage position to an activating position by advancing the tape around a bend (39). The lancets are non-circular in cross-section along their longitudinal lengths, and in their activating position they extend from the tape such that their sharp tips (31) are available for lancing tissue. The carrying tape can be arranged in reel-to-reel format in a housing having a lancing opening. The lancets can be integral with the tape and activated to move the lancet through the lancing opening by moving the tape along its tape path or by translating a dedicated service loop of the tape. The lancets can also be independent from the tape and activated through the lancing opening by a separate lancing actuator. A test media can be included on the carrying tape and the housing can contain a sensor to yield an integrated lancing and testing device.

摘要： An integrated bodily fluid sampling device (60) is used to sample a bodily fluid from an incision in skin. The device includes a lancet (62) for forming the incision in the skin. A housing is coupled to the lancet (62). The housing defines at least in part a capillary channel (98) with an opening (100). The capillary channel (98) is sized to draw the bodily fluid from the incision via capillary action. A test size (72) is positioned along the capillary channel (98) for analyzing the fluid. In one form, a flexible sheet (76) extends from the housing proximal the opening (100) of the capillary channel (98) for drawing the bodily fluid into the opening (100) of the capillary channel (98). In another form, the lancet (62) is slidably received inside the channel (98). During lancing, the lancet (62) extends from the housing to form the incision. Fluid from the incision is drawn into the channel (98) and is deposited on the test strip (72) for anaylsis.

摘要： In a die cutting press (10) for elongated material (16), a registration system includes a die unit (40) that is shiftable along the path of travel (X) of the material, along a direction of travel (Y) transverse to the path of travel, and about a reference axis (O) perpendicular to a plane containing the material. At least one camera (100) is provided for receiving images from the desired locations that are occupied by indicia (20) on the material when defined areas (18) of the material are in a predetermined relationship relative to the die unit (40). Reference image data representative of the desired locations of the indicia relative to the die unit is produced so that a comparison can be made between the reference image data and the actual positions of the indicia. This permits a controller (102) to change the position of the die unit relative to the material to compensate for the difference in position between the indicia within the image and the desired locations of the indicia so that one of the defined areas of the material is positioned in the desired predetermined relationship with the die unit.

摘要： A body fluid sampling device (20) is used to sample a bodily fluid from an incision (34) in skin (32). The device includes a housing (22) that defines a sample cavity (24) with one open end (30) that contacts skin. The device also includes a lancing mechanism that forms an incision in the skin. A vacuum mechanism is used to create a vacuum inside the sample cavity to express fluid from the incision site. To release the vacuum, a valve (28) is connected with the sample cavity (24) to exchange atmospheric air and further Works to minimize fluid splatter. 摘要： Systems and methods for the sampling of bodily fluid from an incision in the skin include test strips which are positioned adjacent to the skin and which include features to inhibit the passage of the bodily fluid between the skin and the underside of the test strip. One system utilizes a sealing member (34) located on the bottom surface (15) of the test strip (10) and positioned to provide a fluid tight seal with the skin. A second system includes a recessed surface (62) aligned with the inlet opening (59) of the test strip (50) to preclude contact of the bodily fluid directly with the bottom surface (55) of the test strip (50). A third system involves the use of a hydrophobic surface (55) on the underside of the test strip (50) to inhibit wicking of the bodily fluid along the test strip. The present invention further encompasses the combination of the foregoing sampling systems with each other, and with incising, expressing and/or testing systems and methods, particularly in a single, integrated device.
