摘要： A stent or other implantable medical device for the local delivery of a selective adenosine receptor agonist may be utilized in combination with other therapeutic agents to reduce myocardial injury following an acute myocardial infarction. As soon as possible following an acute myocardial infarction a stent or other suitable device comprising and capable of delivering a selective adenosine receptor agonist is positioned in the blood vessel with the occlusion responsible for causing the infarct. Once in position, the stent or other intraluminal device is deployed to remove the occlusion and reestablish blood flow to the specific area, region or tissue volume of the heart. Over a given period of time the selective adenosine receptor agonist alone or in combination with other therapeutic agents elute from the stent or other device into the downstream coronary blood flow into the hypoxic cardiac tissue for a time sufficient to reduce the level of myocardial injury.

摘要： A method for decreasing the level of restenosis following a stent placement medical intervention involves the continuous administration of a dose of an anti- restenotic agent, such as paclitaxel, from the stent to vascular tissue in need of treatment in a controlled and extended drug release profile for a period of at least 60 days in vivo. The in vivo release profile is determined by in vivo animal experiments involving implanting a series of stents in animals, explanting the stents from the animals at selected time points, and extracting remaining drug from the explanted stents.

The system includes an inner portion of a water soluble drug in a drug matrix material which stabilizes the drug. 摘要： A bioresorbable drug delivery stent includes a substantially cylindrical expandable stent formed of a bioresorbable material and a plurality of reservoirs or openings formed in the stent containing a beneficial agent matrix comprising a bioresorbable material and drug. The bioresorbable stent material can be a bioresorbable metal alloy, a bioresorbable polymer, or other bioresorbable material which has sufficient structural integrity to support a lumen, such as a blood vessel lumen for a predetermined period of time. The reservoirs containing the beneficial agent matrix allow delivery of the beneficial agent, such as an anti-restenotic drug, for an administration period which is generally equal to or less than a time that the bioresorbable stent is retained in the lumen. The beneficial agent matrix may include one or more bioresorbable polymers in combination with one or more therapeutic agents or drugs and the structure of the beneficial agent matrix can be programmed to achieve a desired release profile for the drug(s) and a desired administration period.

摘要： Methods and devices are provided for the delivery of therapeutic agents which reduce myocardial tissue damage due to ischemia and anti-restenotic agents which inhibit restenosis following a cardiac procedure such as stent implantation. The anti- ischemia agents are delivered to the myocardial tissue over an administration period sufficient to achieve reduction in ischemic or reperfusion injury of the myocardial tissue. The anti-restenotic agents are delivered over an administration period sufficient to reduce the re-narrowing of a blood vessel following a cardiac procedure such as implantation of a device. Preferred anti- restenotic drugs are those that do not reduce the beneficial effects provided by the anti-ischemic drug, such as drugs that do not act on the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR).
