摘要： A support substrate or chuck 20 supports wafer die 11 during and after dicing of a wafer 10. The support substrate comprises an array of islands 21, upper faces of which are raised above a major face of the support substrate for alignment with an array of dies on, or singulated from, the wafer. Spacing between the islands is not less than a kerf of a laser, or a width of a blade, used to dice the wafer. For laser dicing the upper faces of the islands are a sufficient height above the major face that energy of a laser beam 30 used to dice the wafer is dissipated in channels between the islands without substantially machining the support substrate.

摘要： A valve system (1, 100) for a vessel has a valve body (2, 101), and a valve stem (26) extending through the valve body (2, 101) and terminating in a plug (20, 102) for axial movement between open and closed position as the stem moves through the valve body. There is at least one probe passageway (12, 13, 108) through the valve stem (26, 121), at least one of which has a circumferential seal (9-11, 105-106) for engaging a probe inserted in the passageway and being exposed in a vessel The circumferential seal (9-11, 105-106) seals the inside of a vessel from atmosphere while allowing a probe to be inserted and removed by moving axially in the passageway. This avoids need to remove the valve system to insert or remove a probe, and indeed a single expensive probe can be used at different times with different valve systems. When there is no exposed probe required, the seal may be completed by simply inserting a dummy probe in the passageway.

摘要： An electrochemical cell is provided with an enhanced pressure relief vent (40) formed in a closed end (18) of the cell container that allows for effective venting of gas from the closed end of the container. The cell includes a container having a first end, a second end, a side wall ex-tending between the first and second ends, and an end wall extending across the first end. The cell has a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an aqueous alkaline electrolyte, all disposed in the container. The cell further includes a pressure relief vent mechanism (40) having an offset C-shaped reduced thickness groove (42) formed in the end wall of the container. A cover can be welded (58a, 58b, 58c) to the closed end (18) wall of the container over the pressure relief vent mechanism (40).

摘要： A laser machining apparatus arranged to machine material (15) which emits a hazardous material during machining, includes a vacuum extraction system (24, 25) for extracting at least some of the emitted hazardous material from a machining region of the apparatus. At least a first containment zone (36) encompasses the machining region to contain deposition of any un-extracted emitted hazardous material to the machining region. A second containment zone (37) may surround the first containment zone (36) and a pressure differential may be provided between the two containment zones (36, 37) to assist in containing deposition of hazardous materials to the first containment zone (36). A transfer chamber (40) may be provided for transferring machined material (15) to a washing station to prevent release from the laser machining apparatus during the transfer of any emitted hazardous material deposited on the machined material (15).
