    • The present invention provides a portable photodynamic disinfection light delivery device (100) comprising: two opposing light sources (26, 28), an energy source (34) to supply energy to the light sources (26, 28), and a housing (8) for receiving the two light sources (26, 28) and the energy source (34); wherein (i) the housing 8 includes two members (10, 12) each having a clamp portion (14, 16) for receiving one of the two light sources (26, 28) and an attachment mean (18) connecting the clamp portions (14, 16); (ii) the clamp portions (14, 16) during photodynamic disinfection surround a catheter disinfection site (20); and (iii) the two light sources (26, 28) together provide circumferential illumination at least one wavelength that can activate at least one photosensitizer so as to reduce microbes located at the catheter disinfection site (20). The present invention provides a catheter disinfection method comprising: applying circumferential illumination at a wavelength that activates a photosensitizer located at a catheter disinfection site (20) so as to reduce microbes located at the catheter disinfection site (20) using the portable photodynamic disinfection light device (100) described above.

    • The present invention provides a sealer light delivery device (100) comprising a light delivery tip (102) and a light delivery assembly (104) comprising a housing member (106), a light source (126) and an electronic assembly (112) comprising magnetic means (122), a rectifier (124) and current control means (130), wherein the light delivery tip (102) is in secured but removable communication with the light delivery assembly (104); the light source (126) is in electrical communication with the electronic assembly (104); the device (100) is adapted for insertion into a receiver (14) of a sealer (10) and when the device (100) is in communication with the receiver (14), the electronic assembly (104) converts magnetic field energy provided by the receiver (14) into electric energy to power the light source (124) thereby allowing the device to deliver light out of the light delivery tip (102) in a desired illumination pattern and at least one predetermined wavelength. The present invention also includes a method of making the device and using it.
