    • Device controllers are enhanced with application processors or coprocessors and additional input/output interfaces are added to the device. Coprocessors running application code allowing the device to serve as application servers for data stored on the device. Coprocessors include an application processing framework allowing access to device storage and optionally include additional memory busses and additional memory chips to reduce bus contention allowing coprocessors to achieve high throughput rates for inputting or outputting or processing device data. Coprocessors include software to access and process stored data without processing support from the host system interfacing to the device. Access to stored data is managed to prevent simultaneous access corruption when the data is being changed.

    • A content delivery proxy system and method delivers content to an unsupported client device within a content delivery system by converting messages and data from the unsupported client device into content delivery system supported messages and data. Client log-in messages are converted into a content delivery system supported format and sent to the content delivery system, and user entitlement information is requested from the content delivery system. If the user is a subscriber of the content provider, an unsupported client device identifier is created for the client device. A user interface for selecting content from the content delivery system is displayed on the client device in a client device supported format, and selections on the user interface are sent to the content delivery system. Selected content is provided to the client device in the proper format for playback on the client device.

    • A targeted advertising processing system includes a number of categories each having a different contribution to processing that determines whether a subscriber is an appropriate target for the criteria established by the advertiser. Categories define specific attributes a subscriber must have, combined attributes a subscriber must have, subscriber attributes the advertiser would like to have, along with other categories including categories defining subscriber attributes that must always be excluded. In one method of operation the targeted advertising processing determines which subscribers should be targeted with a particular ad based on advertiser defined criteria. In another method of operation an individual subscriber profile is evaluated for a plurality of advertiser targeting attributes and the advertiser having a higher targeted profile matching score for the subscriber profile being evaluated is selected for display of the ad to the subscriber.
