The processor then calculates a left pulse transit time (PTT L ) and a right pulse transit time (PTT R ) and the difference between the two transit times (D) where PTT R ; t 1 - t 0 , PTT?L?; t 2 - t 0 and (D); PTT R -PTT L . The value of D is displayed on a screen to the subject, who then responds by controlling his autonomic outputs so as to bring the value of D to within a predetermined range.
