摘要： The invention provides an improvement to a uracil-specific excision reagent (USER™) based cloning technique comprising generating a single-stranded extension on a polynucleotide molecule, the single-stranded extension having a desired length and sequence composition, comprising: (a) introducing a cassette into a polynucleotide molecule at a predetermined location; (b) cleaving the polynucleotide molecule with a nicking endonuclease specific for a nicking site in the cassette and with a restriction endonuclease specific for a restriction site in the cassette; and (c) dissociating the cleaved polynucleotide molecule between the nicking site and the restriction site to generate the single-strand extension with the desired length and sequence composition; wherein said improvement to said USER™ based cloning technique comprises using a proof-reading polymerase to generate said polynucleotide molecule. Also provided is a deoxyuridine-excision based method of fusing duplex nucleic acid sequence to form a fused duplex product referred to herein as 'USER™ fusion'. The invention further provides related materials and methods.

摘要： A pachymeter apparatus for measuring corneal thickness is configured for the calculation of intraocular pressure ("IOP"). The apparatus includes a pachymeter for measuring corneal thickness as well as a microprocessor and a user interface. A reading of IOP from a tonometer can be entered into the device and corrected according to the pachymeter reading of corneal thickness. Correction algorithms are user selectable and user customizable. A pachymeter may have a graphical display which displays multiple locations at which measurements are to be taken. A pachymeter may use a capacitor charged by a variable current supply to measure times for signals to be reflected from a back side of a cornea.

摘要： By means of the method according to the invention, it is possible to re-use polystyrene plastic foam items (1), such as gases and the like, by comminuting the items and thereafter heating the comminuted material in a vessel (11) until it melts at a temperature of between 200-230 °C, after which the melted material is fed to a stringing tool (40) by means of a worm conveyor (38) for stringing-out (45) of polystyrene strings. These polystyrene strings can be pelleted so that the polystyrene can constitute a raw material in a new production, or possibly be mixed with a new material. By means of the method and plant according to the invention, it is possible to re-use large quantities of polystyrene plastic foam industrially and produce polystyrene in pellet form at a price which is competitive with the raw material polystyrene, which promotes re-use of the used items and reduces the pollution by such items.
