摘要： The present disclosure relates to a ligating instrument and end effector assemblies for use in laparoscopic tubal ligation procedures. The ligating instrument includes an integral grasping assembly and an integral end effector actuator and is configured to perform a ligating procedure by operation of a single hand of a user. The ligating instrument includes an integral grasper assembly for grasping a tubular tissue section and removable end effector or suture deployment mechanism for holding open a suture to be positioned about the tubular section. The grasper is configured to draw the tubular section into the open loop of suture material and cinch the suture material about the tubular tissue section. A rotator knob may be provided to orient grasper members associated with the grasper assembly relative to the tissue section. An alternative end effector is provided to removably mount on the distal end of the ligating instrument and to cut that part of the tubular tissue section which needs to be removed after the tubular tissue section has been ligated. A relatively soft over mold section may be provided to at least partially enclose the handle of the ligating instrument in order to provide comfort and facilitate a rsurer grip of the instrument.

摘要： The disclosure relates to a cassette (10), frame (12) and mold (14) for holding a tissue sample (80) during an embedding and microtoming process, and related methods. The cassette (10) is sectionable in a microtome and includes a body (20) with a bottom wall (24) and a plurality of side walls (22a-22d). First and second side walls (22a-22c) are generally V-shaped to present an apex of the "V" to the microtome blade. A lid (32) of the cassette (10) is stiffer than the bottom wall (24) of the cassette (10) to assist with positioning the tissue sample (80). The side walls (22a-22d) of the cassette are perforated so as to significantly reduce the amount of cassette material that must be cut by the microtome blade. In one embodiment, to additionally reduce blade wear the ribs (128) on one side wall (124a) are offset lengthwise relative to the ribs (128) on an opposite side wall (124b). An upper flange (140) of the cassette includes depressions (142a-142f) configured to register with detents (54, 56 and 58, 60) in the frame (12).

摘要： According to some embodiments, a method of treating a joint of a patient comprises creating a recess in a bone located at or near a targeted joint, wherein the recess includes a generally wedge or truncated cone shape. In one embodiment, the recess in a bone comprises a surface opening along an outer surface of the bone and a bottom opening along the distal end of the recess, such that a diameter of the surface opening is generally smaller than a diameter of the bottom opening. The method additionally comprises providing a joint implant having a wedge or truncated cone shape, wherein a diameter of a top end of the joint implant is generally smaller than a diameter of a bottom end of the joint implant, inserting the joint implant within the recess.

In one embodiment, a method for cleaning endotracheal tubes comprises inserting a cleaning device within an endotracheal tube while a cleaning member is in a compressed position, radially expanding the cleaning member to an expanded position within the endotracheal tube, and withdrawing the cleaning device from the endotracheal tube with the cleaning member in the expanded position.

摘要： A membrane designed to surround the front portion of the foot and protect it from pressure that may be applied by shoes. The membrane acts as a protective barrier between the shoe and the wearer's foot. As a result, direct abrasion of the foot caused by portions of the shoe is reduced. Additionally, the membrane is designed to spread the pressure exerted by portions of the shoe, such as straps, to a significantly larger surface area of the wearer's foot. The membrane is worn on the front portion of the foot between the toes and the heel.

摘要： Apparatus and methods for repairing damaged tendons or ligaments. Various repair apparatus include an elongate tensile member (16) and a pair of anchor assemblies (10) connected for movement along the tensile member (16) on either side of a repair side, such as a tear or laceration. The anchor assemblies or structures (10) may take many forms, and may include barbed, helical, and crimp-type anchors. In the preferred embodiments, at least one anchor structure (10) is movable along the elongate tensile member (116) to assist with ajusting a tendon segment (100a, 100b) to an appropriate repair position and the anchor structure (10) or structures (10) are then lockable onto the elongate tensile member (116) to assist with affixing the tendon (100) at the repair position. Tendon and/or ligament-to-bone repair apparatus and methods employ similar concepts.
