    • A heater device produces heat when connected to an electric current. The heater device includes a substrate composed of an insulative material and a resistive material layer having a sheet resistance of 10 ohm/sq to 20,000 ohm/sq that is defined on at least a portion of at least one surface of the substrate. The heater device includes a buss structure in communication with the resistive material layer that has at least two elements and is configured to introduce current into the resistive layer with the current traveling in at least one current path in the resistive layer. The heater device also includes at least one geometrically configured current directing structure defined on the resistive material layer at a location between two elements of the buss structure and at a position discrete from the buss structure.

Preferably, each weight sensor (108) has first and second relatively movable parts (118, 120) aligned for relative movement substantially perpendicular to the upper and lower surface of the seat bun (104), the second part (120) being spaced below the first part (118).     • A compact and highly efficient intravenous fluid heater includes a heat exchanger assembly, sensors for sensing respective temperatures of entering and exiting fluids of the flow path, a controller for controlling the heat generated by the heat exchanger assembly, based upon the temperatures of the exiting fluids, heating of the fluid in the flow path by the heating element so as to cause the fluid in the flow path to be substantially uniformly heated to a desired infusion temperature prior to exiting the heater. The heat exchanger assembly uses thin film heating elements having a predetermined set temperature and that transfers heat directly to a standard intravenous tube coil wrapped around the battery housing. The intravenous fluid heater is located in a housing with the intravenous fluid lines extending there from for standard connection with an intravenous line or source of intravenous fluid.

It comprises a sensor device having first and second relatively movable parts (120, 122) being aligned for relative movement substantially perpendicular to upper and lower surface of a seat bun (104). Both parts (120, 122) are mounted within the seat bun (104) below its upper surface, the second part (122) being spaced below the first part (120). The sensor device is operative to produce signals indicative of the distance between the parts (120, 122), which are forwarded to a processor to indicate presence of an occupant. An independent method claim is included directed to analyzing the output of a sensor array, comprising the steps of: simultaneously reading output signals of all sensors, averaging these signals over time and processing them using a neural network in order to estimate the weight and pattern of a load applied to the sensor array.
