摘要： A device combining internal nasal filtration and internal nasal dilation operating synchronously provides air filtration by retaining particulate in a single piece foam nasal filter during inhalation through the nose. Internal nasal dilation is provided by the effect of a resilient member (20) adhesively affixed to the nasal foam filter elements (12) and which when bent from a planar surface applies outward biasing forces to each nostril so that breathing is facilitated. The soft, gentle foam of the nasal filter distributes the biasing forces over a large area and protects the inside of the nose from irritation. An improved internal nasal dilator filter functions to provide increased air flow through dilation while removing various sizes of particulate through filtration.

摘要： A system and method, for maintaining a predetermined level of a treatment gas in a patient while conserving use of the treatment gas, comprising a source of the treatment gas, a sensing device for sensing a breathing cycle of a patient, a conserver for controlling intermittent supply of the treatment gas to the patient in response to the sensed breathing cycle. In a first mode, when the sensing device senses breathing, the treatment gas is intermittently supplied to the patient at a supply rate coordinated with the breathing cycle. In a second mode, when the sensing device is unable to sense breathing, the treatment gas is supplied to the patient at a second intermittent cycle, determined independently of the patient breathing cycle, which is selected to overlap an assumed patient breathing cycle such that at least a desired level of the treatment gas is maintained in the patient.

摘要： Apparatus for fitting to the head of a patient for supply of gas to the nose at a positive pressure for treatment of snoring and sleep apnea comprises headgear for fitting to the head of a patient. A mask support forms part of said headgear and is held, in use, by portions of said headgear in a stable position above the nose of the patient. The mask support includes a manifold chamber, a first connector opening above said manifold chamber for attachment of a gas supply line and a second connector depending from said manifold chamber. The above apparatus may be used with a novel nasal mask which is a nares seal that may be removably connected to said second connector by a third connector forming part of said seal and having an air orifice formed therethrough. The seal further comprises first and second laterally spaced delivery tubes connecting with said air orifice and defining between them a generally triangular open space which extends, when in use, downwardly to a point below the nose of a patient. The delivery tubes thence curves inwardly and upwardly to approach the nose of a patient and supports first and second nostril tubes connected with said delivery tubes for insertion into the nares of a patient. Wire support for said laterally spaced tubes extends from the connector to about where said tubes curve inwardly and upwardly.

摘要： A medical effector system comprised of a bedside unit and a procedure unit. The bedside unit contains connection points for an oral nasal cannula and for receiving inputs from a series of patient monitors. The procedure unit contains a patient monitoring and a medical effector program, and a drug delivery pump and drug cassette or a magnetic flux generator capable of delivering therapeutic energy to a patient. The medical effector program operates the pump or magnetic flux generator based upon at least some of the patient outputs and program inputs. A removable umbilical cable connects the two units and allows gases, the patient monitors as well as other information to travel between the two units.
