    • Since CO2 is identified as a main greenhouse gas, its capture and storage is essential to control global warming. Increased competitiveness of power plants designed for CO2 capture and compression, retrofit ready power plants including efficient ways to retrofit power plants to CO2 capture plants will allow earlier utilization of CO2 capture systems (12). The objective of the present invention is to provide a fossil fired power plant (1, 2) with increased operational flexibility, which allows operation with high efficiency when a steam is extracted for the operation of a CO2 capture system (12) as well as when the CO2 capture system (12) is not operating and no steam is extracted. Further, a method to operate this kind of plant (1, 2) is an objective of the invention. An additional objective is to provide a power plant, (1, 2) which is prepared for future retrofit of a CO2 capture system (12) and is already provided with a steam cycle capable of operation with high efficiency with or without steam extraction. One main aspect of the invention is to provide a water steam cycle with two steam turbine arrangements (14, 15), one for continuous operation independent of CO2 capture operation, and one which can at least partially be shut down during CO2 capture operation.

    • Disclosed is a method of removing carbon dioxide from a process gas, the method comprising: contacting an ammoniated solution with the process gas in an absorption arrangement 101, the ammoniated solution capturing at least a part of the carbon dioxide of the process gas, wherein the molar ratio, R, of ammonia to carbon dioxide in the ammoniated solution is controlled such that substantially no precipitation of solids occurs within the absorption arrangement 101; allowing ammoniated solution including captured carbon dioxide to exit the absorption arrangement 101; cooling the ammoniated solution that has exited the absorption arrangement, wherein at least a part of the captured carbon dioxide is precipitated as solid salt; separating at least a part of the precipitated salt from the ammoniated solution; heating the ammoniated solution from which the at least a part of the precipitated salt has been separated, such that substantially no solids are present in the heated ammoniated solution; and allowing the heated ammoniated solution to re-enter the absorption arrangement 101. Disclosed is also a system for removal of carbon dioxide from a process gas.

    • The present application relates to separation processes and systems and more specifically to hybrid carbon dioxide separation processes. In one embodiment, the system for the separation or removal of carbon dioxide comprises an apparatus (11) for a selective separation of carbon dioxide (CO2) from flue gas - typically exhaust gases, syngas or natural gas streams - using one or more so-called CO2 reverse selective membrane(s) in the first separation unit (11) to enrich a feed gas stream (10) which contains carbon dioxide with CO2, and by separating other constituents of the gas stream. Thus, the feed gas stream is separated in the first separation unit by CO2-reverse-selective separation into a CO2-lean gas stream (12) and a CO2-enriched gas stream (13). The CO2-enriched gas stream (13) is fed to a second separation unit which is a CO2-selective separation unit (14). The second separation results in a purified CO2-rich gas stream (15) and a remaining CO2-lean gas stream (16).
