    • The invention provides an expression system, wherein the produced recombinant protein is exported by the flagellum specific export apparatus into the outer culture medium. According to the invention the short gene segment of the flagellin gene carrying the recognizing signal of the export apparatus is attached to the gene encoding the protein to be produced. Inserting the so obtained fusion construction into an appropriate carrier vector and expressing it in a suitable host cell, the produced fusion protein is exported by the flagellum specific export apparatus of the host cell. If a segment facilitating the purification and an appropriate specific proteolytic cleavage site is inserted, the expressed recombinant protein can be isolated from the cell culture easily, and then the segments can be removed from the protein to be produced, by digestion. Furthermore, the invention provides fusion proteins carrying a flagellum specific export signal, fusion polynucleotides encoding the fusion proteins, constructs comprising the fusion polynucleotides, vectors and host cells. The invention is applicable in the field of expression of recombinant proteins and their export from host cells.

    • The invention relates to a process for preparing L-amino acids by fermenting recombinant microorganisms of the Enterobacteriaceae family, characterized in that a) the desired L-amino acid-producing microorganisms, in which the yaaU ORF, or nucleotide sequences or alleles encoding the gene products, is/are enhanced, in particular overexpressed, is cultured in a medium under conditions under which the desired L-amino acid is enriched in the medium or in the cells, and b) the desired L-amino acid is isolated, with, optionally, constituents of the fermentation broth, and/or the biomass remaining in its/their entirety or in portions (from = 0 to 100%) in the isolated product or being removed completely.
