Optionally, the sample is collected from within a body cavity of an animal without causing significant discomfort or injury to the animal. A first handle portion has a first end connected to the collection end and a second end. A second handle portion is connected to the second end of the first handle portion by a breakable connection. The second end of the first handle portion has at least one winglet. The at least one winglet is compliant in a preferential direction. The breakable connection is ruptured at least in part when the at least one winglet is forced in the preferential direction.

摘要： The present invention relates to a new skin gene card for genetic test, a method for acquiring DNA and RNA and performing various genetic tests using the same, and practical applications thereof. More specifically, the inventors of the present invention have developed a skin gene card capable of acquiring samples from human skin, hair or mucosa simply, safely and quickly and enabling stable long-term storage and transport of DNA and RNA included in the acquired sample at room temperature. 摘要： An apparatus for the non-invasive sampling of skin is provided which allows testing of a skin sample directly on the apparatus. In various embodiments the apparatus can be used to analyze specific components in the skin sample such as, for example, but not limited to, skin cholesterol, disease causing organisms such as fungi, skin contaminants such as chemical spill components, inflammatory mediators, allergens, and toxins. In various embodiments, the device has an area of adhesive tape used for skin sampling that is attached to a substrate backing layer. The adhesive can have a removable protective liner to protect the adhesive prior to use in sampling. Skin samples are obtained by removing the protective liner from the sampling area and then pressing the adhesive to the skin. A second protective liner material can be removably attached to a second adhesive tape area that is also attached to the substrate backing layer. For various embodiments, this second area can have one or more holes punched through both the tape and the backing layer. The sampling area can then be folded over such that the sampling area and its attendant skin sample is stuck to the second tape area. This leaves a skin sample exposed on the bottom of the one or more holes in the apparatus. These holes form wells with a fixed cross-sectional area and that have a skin sample on the bottom surface. The skin sample, of fixed area, at the bottom of the wells can then be probed with reagents that can be added to the wells.

摘要： The present application discloses methods and tools for collecting cells to screen for disease, such as cancer. In one method of screening for a disease a flush fluid is injected into a human cavity, such as a uterus. The flush fluid and entrained cells from the cavity are withdrawn from the cavity and collected. The intermixed cells may be separated from the fluid and analyzed to determine whether the cells have a characteristic that is indicative of the presence of a disease. One tool for applying and withdrawing a fluid includes a nozzle, a screening fluid supply and fluid withdrawal mechanism. The nozzle includes an inlet port and an outlet port. The screening fluid supply supplies a screening fluid through the outlet port. The withdrawal mechanism withdraws fluid through the outlet port.
