    • The armature (11) of an engine starter d.c. motor comprises a rotary shaft (1), an aluminium armature coil (11) and a commutator (10) disposed on the rotary shaft and has a plurality of copper commutator segments (13) each including a sliding contact surface (11a) and an aluminium connecting surface (11b). The aluminium armature coil (11) is electrically and mechanically connected to the aluminium connecting surface (11b) of the commutator segments (13) to form an electrical and mechanical connection therebetween. The electrical and mechanical connection between the segment sliding contact surface and the armature coil is coated with an electrically insulating resin (15).     • A holographic radar comprising receivers (10) for amplifying, detecting and effecting A/D conversion of high-frequency signals of the whole range bin received by a plurality of element antennas (1), and a digital multi-beam forming unit (11) for producing a number of beams corresponding to the number of element antennas by effecting digital calculation for the outputs of the receivers. The plurality of element antennas (1) form a plane of antenna array (2) which is grouped into three or four planes (D0 to D3) to cover the whole circumference. A switch (12) is provided for switching the connection between the element antennas (1) on the plurality of planes and the receivers (10) based upon the pulse hit numbers and the range bin numbers. This makes it possible to scan the whole circumference at high speeds using receivers of one plane, memory and digital multi-beam forming unit, while reducing the size of the apparatus and the cost. In order to reduce the number of the receivers required for one plane, furthermore, a plurality of element antennas may be covered by one receiver, memories may be provided for the element antennas, and video signals may be stored in the memories by switching a separately provided switch in synchronism with the transmission pulses.

    • An engine control method for a vehicle in which the operation of an engine is optimally controlled in the entire operating range thereof without causing any undesirable delay in control operation.
