摘要： Various embodiments of the present invention are directed to methods and systems for generating random numbers. In one embodiment, a quantum random number generator (1100, 1200, 1300) comprises: a state generator (1102) configured to generate a quamtum system in a coherent state; a polarization states analyzer (1104) configured to project the quantum system onto one of four different polarization states, and detect each of the four different ploarization states; a raw bit generator (1106) configured to convert the quantum system into a single photon and detect the single photon in either a first polarization state that corresponds to a first binary number or a second polarization state that corresponds to a second binary number; and a system control (1108) configured to receive signals from the polarization states and the raw bit generator, the signals corresponding to the polarization states, and output a random number based on the first and second polarization states of the single photon.

摘要： One example relates to an optical engine comprising a given layer of given material overlaying an optical waveguide of another material. The given layer of given material can comprise an aligning seat to receive an optical transmitter to provide the optical signal. The aligning seat can also align the optical transmitter such that the optical transmitter provides the optical signal in a direction that is substantially non-oblique relative to a longitudinal axis of the optical waveguide. The optical engine can also include an optical signal redirector to tilt the optical signal by a tilt angle. The optical waveguide can comprise a grating coupler to diffract the optical signal provided at the tilt angle into the optical waveguide.

摘要： Embodiments of the present invention include a family of multi-way switches that can be configured to output an input signal to any combination of n output signal lines. Certain embodiments of the present invention employ a memristive junction between the input signal and each output signal line, the state of which is configured by one or more control signal lines. The memristive junction between the input signal line and each output signal can be switched between a stable, low-conductance state and a high-conductance state. A wide variety of different types of multi-way switches may be fabricated according to various embodiments of the present invention.
