摘要： A video surveillance system includes a plurality of video sources, at least one processing server in communication with the video sources, and at least one monitoring station viewing video from the video sources. The video sources are distributed over a target area to be monitored by the surveillance system and are attached to a video network. The processing server allocates bandwidth to the video sources with an accuracy function which provides event/object detection accuracy as a function of image/video quality transferred over the network. The image accuracy is the accuracy with which the processing server identifies features in a video image. Bandwidth is allocated by optimizing the overall event/object detection accuracy by adjusting image/video quality for each video source optionally subject to the dynamic network conditions experienced by each video source.

摘要： A system and method for tracking and tracing motions of multiple incoherent sound sources and for visualizing the resultant overall sound pressure distribution in 3D space in real time are developed. This new system needs only four microphones (although more could be used) that can be mounted at any position so long as they are not placed on the same plane. A sample configuration is to mount three microphones on the y, z plane, while the 4th microphone on a plane perpendicular to the y, z plane. A processor receives signals from the microphones based on the signals received from noise sources in unknown locations, and the processor determines the locations of these sources and visualizes the resultant sound field in 3D space in real time. This system works for broadband, narrowband, tonal sound signals under transient and stationary conditions.

摘要： The invention provides therapeutics and methods to induce a mammalian host, including a human, to produce antibodies, which agonize death receptors and cause the apoptotic death of target cells within the host's body. The therapeutics are vaccine compositions, including genetic vaccines encoding death receptor antigens of the tumor necrosis factor receptor family. Also provided are means and methods for overcoming host immunological tolerance to death receptors. The vaccines are useful against cancer cells and other death receptor bearing target cells within the host, and can be used in both therapeutic and prophylactic settings. The vaccines are also useful for diagnostic testing of the immunocompetence of a host.

摘要： A method of fabricating a three-dimensional neural probe includes the steps of: growing thermal oxide layer; depositing a layer of Au/Cr on the thermal oxide layer; patterning the layer of Au/Cr; depositing a layer of parylene C; etching the thermal oxide layer to release a plurality of islands; and folding the islands onto one another in stacked relation. The layer of Au/Cr is formed by an evaporation process, and the layer of parylene C is deposited to a thickness of approximately 8 μm. DRIE is used to perform the etching, and HF is used to remove the thermal oxide. A spacer is disposed intermediate of two of the islands.

摘要： An arrangement for collecting a tissue or stool sample has a sample vial and a source of preservative fluid. A fluid valve controls a flow of the preservative fluid from the source of preservative fluid to the sample vial. An air equalization vent tube is coupled to the source of preservative fluid and an air valve controls a flow of air through the air equalization vent tube, the air valve and the fluid valve being actuated simultaneously. A scoop for collecting the sample is coupled to the sample vial coupler and extends into the sample vial. The preservative fluid flows from the source of preservative fluid to the sample vial by force of gravity upon actuation of the fluid valve. The air equalization vent tube transfers air from the sample vial to the source of preservative fluid upon actuation of the air valve.

The solution is then administered to the subject using an intrathecal pump.
