Radiation reflected 5 by the scene 4 includes information relating to the range R between objects in the scene 4. A detector 6, detects the reflected radiation pulses 5 and outputs signals characteristic of the scene 4 to an imaging device or camera. Two image frames will be produced per radiation pulse 3, one frame being representative of the 'close' object and the second frame being representative of the 'far' object. The ratio of these frames may be processed by suitable means to produce a 3D image of the scene 4.

The stacks (12) are contained within towers formed of stacks of bin receiving units (50). A grid network of tracks is provided on the top of the bin receiving units (50) upon which load handling (10) devices (30) run. The load handling (30) devices take containers (10) from the stacks (12) and deposit them at alternative locations in the stacks or deposit then at stations where goods may be picked out.
