    • A gaze activated data unit transfer system is described. An apparatus may comprise a gaze interface application operative on a processor circuit to manage data unit transfer operations based on eye movements of a human user. The gaze interface application may comprise a gaze interpreter component operative to receive eye movement information of a human eye from one or more eye gaze trackers, and interpret the eye movement information as a data unit transfer request to transfer a data unit from a source device to a target device, a data connection component operative to establish a data connection between the source and target devices using the transceiver in response to the data unit transfer request, and a data transfer component operative to send the data unit from the source device to the target device over the data connection. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

    • In various embodiments, apparatuses and methods are disclosed to keep a memory clock gated when the data for a current memory address is the same as the data in the immediate previous memory address. For a write function, new data will only be written into the current memory address if it is different from the data in the immediate previous memory address. Similarly, for a read function, the data will only be read out of the current memory address if it is different from the data in the immediate previous memory address. Each row in the memory may have one associated status bit outside the memory. Data may only be written to or read from the current memory address when the status bit is set. Clock gating the memory ports may reduce the overall power consumption of the memory.

    • Various embodiments are directed to a location detection system. The location detection system may utilize one or more light sources in a fixed and known position capable of emitting modulated light. The location detection system may utilize one or more light receivers in a fixed and known position operative to detect light emitted by the light sources that has been reflected back off an object. The location detection system may utilize a processor circuit that may be communicatively coupled with the light receiver and the light sources. The processor circuit may be operative to receive signals indicative of the detected reflected emitted light from the light receiver. The processor circuit may also be operative to process the signals to determine a location of the object that reflected the emitted light.

    • Various embodiments are directed to a portable electronic device that may utilize front input buttons capable of multiple settings on a front surface that may also include a display. The front input buttons may be ergonomically positioned to be easily accessible to the thumbs of a human operator. A rear surface of the portable electronic device may include one or more rear input buttons ergonomically positioned to be easily accessible to the fingers of a human operator when held. A graphical user interface (GUI) may be operative to display character or command input options for each of the rear input buttons. The character or command input options may be based on a particular setting of one of the front input buttons. A processor circuit may be operative to receive input from the front input buttons indicative of a particular setting and input from the rear input buttons. The input may be indicative of a character or command input option. The processor circuit may further be operative to display the character or command input option. The character or command input options for the rear buttons may be presented in substantially the same orientation as the rear buttons so as to make the display more intuitive to a human operator.
