    • A preferred embodiment of the present invention includes a triple torsion axle system and kit with various features to help reduce or prevent damage that otherwise may occur with large loads. For example, each axle assembly includes larger diameter caps on the ends of each torsion bar to prevent the bar from pulling out of its outer tube during high side loads. In another example, the outer end of the torsion bar has a rounded surface that is fixed to a swing arm so as to better equalize the stress around the weld joint. Additionally, the triple torsion axle is configured such that when the vehicle is unloaded, the middle axle assembly supports more weight than the two adjacent axle assemblies. However, when the vehicle is loaded, all three axle assemblies provide similar support to the vehicle.

    • A vehicle is provided which maintains a substantially constant weight, and therefore traction, on all wheels, despite one wheel moving considerably higher or lower than the others, while avoiding a very soft spring suspension. The vehicle includes a chassis or body to be supported and a pair of side suspensions at either side of the body. In a six wheel vehicle, each side suspension includes a middle wheel, and front and rear linkages repectively coupling the front and rear wheels to the middle wheel. A body link pivotally connects the front and rear linkages together, with the middle of the body link rising or falling by only a fraction of the rise or fall of any of the three wheels. The body link pivotally supports the middle of the length of the body. A transverse suspension for suspending the end of the body on the side suspensions includes a middle part pivotally connected to the body about a longitudinal axis and opposite ends each pivotally connected to one of the side suspensions along at least a longitudinal axis.

    • Vehicular wheel suspension units consist of primary support frames upon which plural tandem wheel assemblies are suspended through trailing pivotal link arms. Additional interconnecting linkage means between the several independently suspended wheel assemblies allow the assemblies to operate in unison on rough terrain in a compensating mode to maintain a level and smooth shock-free ride with maximum roll stability. The system is purely mechanical without resort to cables, hydraulics or pneumatics. The wheel suspension is adjustable to raise or lower the vehicle main frame or bed and to lock it at a desired elevation in a safe manner while the vehicle is at rest. The system is applicable to trailers and other vehicles.
