    • A low profile actuator assembly for controlling PCI card removal from the chassis bay of a hot pluggable computer. The assembly includes a housing, a switch and a latch body. The housing is adapted for mounting to the bay and is defined by a top, bottom, and a front. The switch is coupled to the housing bottom and is operable in a first state and a second state. In this regard, the first state is indicative of a power-on condition, whereas the second state is indicative of a power-off condition. The latch body is connected to the housing and is operatively associated with the switch. More particularly, the latch body is linearly slidably between a retention position and a release position. In the retention position, the latch body is extended relative to the housing front and causes the switch to operate in the first state. Conversely, in the released position, the latch body is retracted relative to the housing front and causes the switch to operate in the second state. In one preferred embodiment, the assembly further includes a push button coupled to the housing adjacent the latch body for prompting a powering down condition.

    • A stir device for a base on an integrated circuit chip is arranged in the base between a receiving space on an upper cover thereof and a receiving space on a lower seat thereof and the stir device includes a push lever and an actuation rod. The actuation rod has at least one tooth part and the receiving space of the upper cover has a meshing recess to accommodate the tooth part. Therefore, once the push lever of the stir device is turned, the upper cover can displace horizontally such that connecting pins on an integrated circuit chip, which is inserted into the upper cover can firmly contact with the contacts inserted into the lower seat.

    • A zero insertion force connector basing on surface contact having a connector base with multiple connecting terminals installed thereon in array form, a sliding cover, and a clamping lever for securing the sliding cover in position. Each connecting terminal is appropriately bent at the lower end to form a contact surface, so that when the connector is placed on a substrate, each connecting terminal is matched by a corresponding solder pad leading to the internal circuit inside the substrate. With only a small amount of applied force to join the connecting terminals onto the substrate by soldering, the connector can thus be mounted onto the substrate with reliability.

    • An electrical connector (1) includes: an insulative base (10) having a top surface (104), a bottom surface (103), and a plurality of passageways (101); a cover (12) slidably mounted on the base; a plurality of conductive terminals (16) received in the passageways; and an actuating device (14). Each passageway is bounded by two opposite first walls (1018), two opposite second walls (1019), and a bottom wall (1013). Each first wall defines a through slot (1011), and one of the second walls forms a slanted guiding portion (1012) spanning from the top surface to adjacent the bottom wall. The bottom wall forms a chamfer portion (1014). The guiding portion and the chamfer portion cooperate to protect the corresponding terminal and the base from damage when the terminal is inserted into the passageway.
