    • A board-mountable electrical connector (10, 110) comprises a housing (20, 120) which holds a plurality of contacts (30, 120) in a row. Each of the contacts includes a supporting part (31, 131) that is secured to the housing, a connecting part (33, 133) disposed at one end of the supporting part for connection with a circuit board, and a contact part (32, 132) disposed at an opposite end of the supporting part for electrical contact with a mating body. The contact part extends from the supporting part with successive portions including, first, a downward-facing projection (51) adjacent to the supporting part, a projecting shape (56) extending upward to an apex (56a) and then downward to a bent part (52) at a forward end of the contact part, and an arm part (53) extending upwardly and rearwardly from the bent part to a pair of contact projections (54) which can make electrical connection with the mating body. The contact projections (54) are disposed rearwardly of the apex (56a) of the projecting shape.

    • A flat (horizontal) press-fit busbar terminal structure for use in junction boxes, power distribution boxes, and the like at vehicle wiring junctions. Instead of the usual vertical busbar terminal extending through one or more insulation plate layers to be connected to the vertical terminals of a pluggable component, flat press-fit terminals are fastened in horizontal, essentially flush fashion to the surfaces of the flat insulation plates, with horizontally disposed terminal ends for receiving pluggable component terminals therethrough in perpendicular fashion. The flat terminals of the invention greatly reduce the overall height of the junction box, PDB, etc., thereby allowing the vertical component terminals to be used in place of peripheral jumper connections to interconnect one or more layers of busbar terminals.

    • In an electrical connector having at least one contact (2) held in at least one contact accommodating groove (3a) formed in an insulator (3), the contact (2) comprises a base portion (21) press-fitted in the contact accommodating groove (3a), a contact portion (22) projecting (2a) from the contact accommodating groove (3a) upward, and a U-shape spring portion (2b) connecting the base portion (21) and the contact portion (22). Opposite side walls at the relatively small width section (3a-2) are formed with press-fit grooves (3d) adjacent to the bottom wall (3c). The base portion (21) of the contact (2) is formed with lateral projections (2c) laterally projecting from the opposite sides of the base portion (21), and the lateral projections (2c) are press-fit in the press-fit grooves (3d) respectively. The base portion (21) of the contact (2) has a slender part which extends between the U-shape spring portion (2b) and the lateral projections (2c) and which is smaller in width than the width of the relatively small width section (3a-2) of the contact accommodating groove (3a).

    • An electrical connector assembly (1) includes a plug connector (2) and a receptical connector (3). The plug connector includes an insulative housing (20) having a number of passageways (205) and a number of fingers (206), and a number of electrical contacts (22) received in the passageways and supported by the fingers. The receptacle connector has an insulative housing (30) defining a number of grooves (306) and a number of electrical contacts (32) formed with slanted resilient arms (322) extending in the grooves. The resilient arms guide the fingers to extend into the grooves to establish an electrical connection between the electrical contacts on the fingers and the resilient arms with a low insertion force.

    • A generally U-shaped clamp may be used to connect a charging cable to a terminal of a storage battery to be charged. The clamp includes an elongated main body portion having a longitudinally extending axis and spaced ends. The clamp further includes a first elongated leg member connected to the main body portion at one of its ends. The first leg member extends away from the main body portion in a direction transverse to the axis and has a clamping end segment disposed in laterally spaced relationship to the axis. The clamp also includes second elongated leg member connected to the main body portion at the opposite end thereof from the first leg member. The second leg member also extends away from the main body portion in essentially the same direction as the first leg member and the same has an electrically conductive cable connector carrying end segment disposed in laterally spaced relationship to the clamping end segment of the first leg member. An electrically conductive cable connector is carried by the electrically conductive cable connector carrying end segment and the leg members are configured and arranged so as to embrace a battery therebetween with the electrically conductive cable connector in contact with a terminal on one of the sides of the battery and with the clamping end segment in contact with an opposite side of the battery. The leg members are resiliently biased toward one another to securely place the electrically conductive cable connector into electrical conducting contact with the terminal.
