    • An electrical connection system includes a frame, a main printed circuit "mother board", a series of secondary printed circuit "daughter boards", and interconnecting spacers formed of an insulative material plate with holes in it into each of which is inserted a buffer that is a good conductor of electricity. The frame includes a support plate with series of slides, the mother board resting on the support plate and receiving the interconnecting spacer. The daughter boards are slid into the slides and include, along an edge which cooperates with the interconnecting spacer, a heel-piece on which is mounted and to which is fixed a flexible printed circuit the tracks of which are connected to those of the daughter board and cooperate with the buffers. Arrangements are provided to fix the daughter boards to the frame.

    • Chip-like stacks of thinned chips are mounted in wells etched into a substrate. A"chip-like" stack is a stack of chips, which in the aggregate have a height approximately equal to that of a single conventional chip. These chip-like stacks are mounted in a variety of packages. In a preferred embodiment, the stacks are mounted in wells within the substrate of an integrated circuit and the stack is provided with a patterned overlay so that all the circuit connections can be made from the upper surface of the stack. The patterned overlay is protected by a planar insulator. A plurality of substrates may be stacked, one upon the other.

    • A card edge connector includes inner housings that accommodate electrically conducting terminals. The inner housings are rotatably supported within a box-like outer housing. A rotatable range is regulated by projected portions of the respective housings being abutted against each other, so that an opening of the outer housing is kept open to allow an end portion of a printed board to be inserted. In addition, the terminals do not come in contact with each other, so that the circuit is kept from being shorted. When the insertion of the end portion into the outer housing is started, the upper inner housing rides over the end portion slightly. However, as the end portion is further inserted to the depth of the outer housing, introducing cams formed on a hood enclosing the end portion cause the upper inner housing to rotate with a slight insertion force, thereby causing the terminals to be urged into full engagement with the end portion of the printed board.

    • The invention relates to a magazine arrangement for enabling one or more printed circuit boards to be held in the magazine but readily removable therefrom, wherein the circuit boards are disposed side-by-side and can be inserted into and withdrawn from the magazine by virtue of each board having upper and lower edge-parts which coact with upper and lower grooves in the magazine. Each board carries on its edge that faces inwardly of the magazine one part of a connecting element which is intended to be brought into and out of coaction with a second part of the connecting element, this latter part being located on the backplane of the magazine. The two parts of the connecting element are each provided with a corresponding connecting device, wherein devices are provided for damping transient voltages that occur within board-mounted and/or board-connected electrical and/or electronic components, among other things, when a normalized voltage is applied to said components. The devices include at least one current-supply rail or contact strip which is to be received in a magazine-mounted groove or channel for voltage application. At least one board is provided adjacent an edge-part thereof that coacts with the groove or channel with a contact strip-part which can coact with the rail and through which a voltage is applied directly to the board-mounted electric and/or electronic components. When viewed in the direction in which a board is inserted into the magazine, the contact strip-part is preceded by a further contact strip-part coacting with the rail or the coact strip, wherein the two contact strip-parts are connected electrically by circuit-board related connection, enabling the board to be supplied with a voltage to dampen transient voltages that occur within the components.
