    • An operating mechanism for a circuit breaker including a frame, a spring shaft mounted on the frame and rotatable around a central axis thereof, a spring case having a notch in an outer periphery thereof and rotatable around the central axis, a rotating spring provided in the spring case and having a first end secured to the spring shaft and a second end secured to the spring case, a cam secured to the spring shaft and rotatable along with the spring shaft, and a catch rotatably mounted on the spring case. The catch is at an original position at the notch inside the outer periphery of the spring case by a spring. The operating mechanism further includes a charging device for rotating the spring case to charge the rotating spring and a control lever rotatably mounted on the frame and having an end portion engaged with the cam, the catch and the outer periphery of the spring case for performing closing and opening control of the charging device. The spring shaft is rotated by a driving force of the rotating spring for causing the control lever to perform the closing control of the charging device. The spring case is rotated by the charging device to charge the rotating spring for causing the control lever to perform the opening control of the charging device.

    • An operating mechanism for a manually operated load break switch having an over center spring drive moved by an operating handle to open and close the switch. The operating mechanism includes a shaft rotatable by the operating handle, a follower rotatably mounted on the shaft, an elongated forked plate pivotally mounted intermediate its length to the follower at a location radially outwardly of the shaft, an operating lever for the switch pivotally mounted on the shaft and movable by engagement with the follower and a driver affixed to the shaft for rotation therewith and positioned to engage and rotate the follower and the forked plate. An over center spring drive is pivotally connected to the forked plate at a location radially outwardly of the pivotal mounting of the forked plate to the follower. This mechanism permits the over center spring drive to be moved between fully closed and fully opened conditions of the switch by rotation of the operating handle while preventing alignment of the shaft, the pivotal mounting of the forked plate to the follower and the over center spring drive pivotal mounting to the forked plate when the spring drive reaches its fully compressed condition.

    • A double-pole, reversing switch adapted to be mounted in the handle of a portable electric tool. The switch includes a trigger type pushbutton on-off switch and a slide button reversing switch electrically connectable for reversing shunt or series motors and mounted in a unitary housing, and having an external interlock preventing operation of the slide button while the trigger is depressed. The on-off switch is provided with double-pole butt contacts that have a controlled amount of wipe, very low bounce, are non-teasable, and have maximum contact pressure at the point of tripping open. The trigger has a considerable amount of movement between trip ''''on'''' and trip ''''off'''' positions. The slide button reversing switch is provided with spring biased ''''ball-bearing'''' movable contacts operating with snap-action to engage converging flat surfaces of pairs of stationary contacts.
