    • The present invention provides an electrical switch with a return spring comprising a housing having a cylindrical shaped rotor having a brace member extending therefrom and in a centered position, the brace member is positioned adjacent to a stop abutment member protruding within the aperture of the switch housing and a spring member mounted on the rotor having arms which abut against the edges of the brace member and the stop abutment in the centered position and upon rotation of the rotor, the arms of the spring will cause the rotor to return to its centered position. The brace member abuts the arms of the return spring and upon rotation of the rotor, the braces cause the arms of the return spring to deform. The return spring in a preferred embodiment has an Omega shape.

    • An object of the present invention is to improve the manipulating property of a rotary knob device. According to the present invention, a variable resistor and switch has an inner unrotatable shaft, and an outer rotatable shaft. A first manipulation member having a light guide portion, a light bending portion and a luminous portion is coupled to the inner shaft. A sign indicative of the method of manipulation of the resistor and switch, and a sign indicative of the function thereof are provided on the luminous portion. The luminous portion is illuminated to make the signs clearly visible. The signs provided on the first manipulation member fitted on the inner unrotatable shaft are illuminated with the luminous portion of the member so that the signs are shown at a high luminance to improve the manipulating property of the knob device.

    • A composite headlight switch with buzzer circuit for use in a vehicle with, for example, a dome light, the dome light switch being located in line with the remaining switch elements in a front area of the overall switch structure, which front area was previously occupied by a spacer, rather than having the dome light switch located outboard on the exterior side of the overall switch structure as in the prior art.     • An electrical switch comprises, in addition to its switching mechanism or mechanisms, a potentiometer including a potentiometer plate and a slider which is advantageously moved/simultaneously with the actuation of the switching mechanisms. The switch requires terminal elements not only for the switching mechanism or mechanisms but also for this potentiometer. Consequently, an electrical connection must be provided within the switch between the inner ends of the terminal elements and the potentiometer plate. In accordance with the invention, the potentiometer plate is connected to the terminal elements by slip-in attachment which not only ensures a safe hold but also effects the electrical contact. To this end, the potentiometer plate is inserted into slot-shaped seats of the terminal elements, which are prevented from being unduly enlarged by suitable means. The firm hold is in addition ensured by corresponding grooves provided in the housing, and preferably and in addition, by studs which are provided on the housing cover and which, while securing the cover to the housing, are ultrasonically plasticized, in order to produce exactly fitting holding elements.
