    • A timer switch comprises a cam member of a generally disc shape having a cam surface at its periphery. The cam surface is stepped to provide a depressed portion and a shoulder portion adjacent thereto. The cam surface has a notch formed in the shoulder portion and opening to one side of the cam member. The cam member is operatively connected to a motor for rotation. A shaft is mounted on a casing for rotation about and displacement along the axis thereof. The cam member is fixedly mounted on the shaft for rotation therewith. An electrical switching means comprises a pair of first and second contact plates of a resilient material. The first contact plate is biased into sliding engagement with the cam surface. The second contact plate is biased normally into engagement with the first contact plate for energizing the motor to rotate the cam member. Upon depression of the first contact plate into the depressed portion the second contact plate engages the shoulder portion to de-energize the motor. Upon axial displacement of the shaft, the second contact plate is moved into the depressed portion through the notch so that the second contact plate is again biased into engagement with the first contact plate to reset the timer switch.

    • An electric timer includes a rotatably mounted operating member which is movable from a datum position to any one of a plurality of angular positions which correspond to periods of time for which it is desired to set the time period. The operating member is urged to rotate in the direction towards the datum position when it is set to a desired angular position. A rotatably mounted toothed member is driven by the operating member when the operating member is urged back towards the datum position. A pivotable escapement member engages with the teeth of the toothed member, and an electro-magnet controls the pivoting of the escapement member and thereby the rotation of the toothed member and operating member. The electro-magnet comprises a permanent magnet for exerting a magnetic force to normally attract the escapement member, and a winding receptive of reference pulses to reduce the magnetic force exerted by the permanent magnet so as to permit the pivoting of the escapement member.

    • This invention relates generally to ornamental lighting controls and particularly to a lighting control for Christmas tree lighting having preferably at least four duty cycle outputs and wherein the duty cycle pattern of each output differs, with respect to a predetermined time interval, from the duty cycle pattern of each of the other outputs of the control thereby to produce, in a plurality of ornamental lighting strings respectively connected to the outputs of the control, a coordinated condition of continuously changing light intensities between strings and that occur in predetermined sequential time differing order to result in an overall lighting effect totally unobtainable by any other form of light controlling apparatus.

    • A timing device controls a group of electric heaters, turning them on in sequence in response to call for heat by a thermostat and turning them off in sequence when the call for heat is satisfied. The timer has two stopping points, one with the heaters off and the other with the heaters on. A single switch controls the timer motor and is opened by a timer can at the off and on positions. The switch is held open at the off position by an off latch and at the on position by an on latch. These latches are released by a solenoid controlled by the room thermostat. The latches are also controlled by a timer cam, the off latch being held released when the timer is in the on position, and the on latch being held out at the off position. The load switches for the heaters are also opened instantly by a second solenoid responding to an unfavorable condition. This same action releases the on latch to cause the timer to return to the off position.
