    • An apparatus and system disconnects electrical power from an electrical power outlet. Specifically, the apparatus and system disconnects electrical power, such as AC power, from an electrical receptacle and a timer when the timer has expired. More specifically, the apparatus and system for disconnecting electrical power has a plurality of switches to engage a timer circuit. A first switch either engages the timer circuit or bypasses the timer circuit. Upon engaging the timer circuit, a second switch is engaged to supply power to the timer circuit for the duration of a timer. A third switch allows a user to select various timer values to set the duration of the timer. One or more indicators informs a user whether the bypass circuit is engaged or whether the timer circuit is engaged.

    • A programmer timer for an appliance, such as microwave cooking oven, having a magnetron power switch positioned by a control selectively moved to one of three power level settings by user rotation of the single rotary knob to a selected position on one of three separate cooking program interval range scales on the dial. Selection of a knob position on the first scale provides a 100% magnetron duty cycle, or full "ON", cooking mode for the desired cooking interval, selection of a knob position on the second scale provides a first predetermined fractional duty cycle for "MEDIUM" power level magnetron operation for the desired cooking interval; and, selection of a knob position on the third scale provides a second predetermined fractional duty cycle for "LOW" or "DEFROST" power level magnetron operation for the desired cooking program interval. A single timing motor drives a cam advance mechanism for effecting time-out of the selected program interval for the three power levels of operation.

    • A timer device includes a housing for containing a timer circuit and a time unit setting switch to select one of plural time units in the timer circuit. At least two scale plates each have a through-hole for the insertion of a timer circuit knob, engaging projections provided on the edge of each plate, and an engagement releasing recess provided at an edge of each plate. Engaging recesses provided on the housing are engageable with the projections when a selected plate is attached to the housing, and an escaping recess provided on the housing and overlapping the releasing recess, when the plate is attached to the housing, enables access to be attained from outside to the underside of the plate through the recesses. A depression is formed on the plate into which a button of the time unit setting switch is insertable when the button is located at that position which sets in the timer circuit a time unit corresponding to the scale on the plate, and the plate is thus enabled to be attached to the housing. The switch then is also prevented from moving from its initial position. The switch button is blocked from insertion into the depression, so as to prevent the plate from being attached to the housing, when the time unit represented by the scale on the plate does not coincide with the time unit set by the switch in the timer circuit.

    • One form of the timer is designed to be mounted over and behind a conventional wall switch cover plate and includes a two position timer condition-setting arm, a rotatable and depressible time setting dial knob and an indicator on the front of the cover plate. When the arm is moved to a timer-on position, the indicator flashes to indicate that timer programming is needed. This may be achieved in real time over the first twenty-four hours after a 30 minute play period by depressing the knob acting as an on and off power switch control push button to turn the light circuit on and off in a normal manner. Fast normal programming is achieved by rotating the knob to various time settings and depressing the knob to set ON or OFF markers in timer memory. A full twenty-four hour programming is completed by either completing a full rotation of the knob over the full twenty-four hour time settings, with at least one ON and one OFF depression, or by a similar pair of knob depressions without such a full rotation, OFF markers then being automatically set by the timer to complete the timer programming. The indicator comes steady-on to indicate that the timer is fully programmed and in an automatic mode of operation. The automatic operation is temporarily overridden by depression of the knob or permanently overridden by a simple distinctive speed or time duration depression of the knob.

    • An actuator device for use with an interval timer comprises a manually displaceable setting member displaceable between a nonworking position and a working position and a locking lever for releasably locking the setting member in its working position whereby an output device may be actuated by the setting member when same is moved into its working position. The setting member is biased into its nonworking position by a biasing spring and is maintained in its working position against the restoring force of the biasing spring by the locking lever. The locking lever is mounted for pivotal movement into a locking position in response to manual depression of the setting member to thereby prevent return movement of the setting member and is mounted for tilting movement to an unlocking position in response to either further manual depression of the setting member or in response to movement of an external output member to thereby permit the setting member to return to the nonworking position.
