    • In an exemplary embodiment of the invention, a locking mechanism comprising a blocking member sized to fit within the elongated slot through which a circuit breaker handle extends is disclosed. The blocking member may be seated adjacent the circuit breaker handle within the elongated slot and may snap or otherwise be locked into place to prevent the circuit breaker handle from moving within the slot. Thus, if the blocking member is placed within the elongated slot when the circuit breaker handle is in an OFF position, then the circuit breaker handle will be locked in the OFF position. The blocking member can be converted for locking the circuit breaker handle in an ON position. Then, when the blocking member is placed within the elongated slot when the circuit breaker handle is in an ON position, then the circuit breaker handle will be locked in the ON position. Once the blocking member is made for use in locking the circuit breaker in an ON condition, it cannot be converted back for use as a blocking member for locking the circuit breaker handle in an OFF position.

    • A moisture-proof flashing panel mount for an electrical connector box to be disposed within a building structure wall when such a box has a shaped border defining an exteriorly accessible opening into which electrical wiring eventually is directed. The mount is a generally flat and generally rigid moisture-impermeable panel having therethrough an exteriorly projecting lipped opening defining a frame having an interior frame surface. This interior frame surface is complimentary in shape to the shaped border of the connector box and is sized to allow the shaped border to reside by friction fit within the frame. The remainder of the panel is disposed lateral to the frame and is effectively covered with wall finishing material such as lath paper and stucco which is applied to also surround the outer wall of the exteriorly projecting lip that forms the frame. As is apparent, the installation above-described completely prohibits any moisture entry around and into the building-structure wall within which the electrical connector box is situated, with such moisture entry prohibition continuing for the life of the building structure.

    • An adjustable mounting bar and electrical box assembly for hanging a light fixture, fan, or other electrical device from a ceiling. All hardware required for mounting the electrical device is included with the assembly. The adjustable mounting bar includes sliding tubular members with end flanges for spanning between adjacent overhead joists. An electrical box is connected to the tubular members by a clamp and outer clamping fasteners, which can be loosened to adjust the length of the adjustable mounting bar. The end flanges include penetrable tabs that can be driven into the overhead joists to temporarily secure the adjustable mounting bar to the joists and thereby free the installer's hands. First load bearing fasteners are threadably engaged in first storage receptacles in the sliding tubular members of the assembly and upon temporary securement to the joists, can be removed from the storage receptacles and fastened through the end flanges to securely fasten the mounting bar to the joists. The assembly includes second load bearing device fasteners that are threadably engaged in second storage receptacles in the electrical box. After the mounting bar is secured to the joists and the electrical box is secured to the mounting bar, the device fasteners can be removed from the second storage receptacles and an electrical device brought into engagement with the lower edge of the electrical box. The device fasteners are then driven into receptacles in the clamp. Oversize openings are provided in the top wall of the electrical box to ensure that the suspended load is borne by the clamp and mounting bar and not the electrical box.

    • A contact assembly for use in an electrical switching apparatus has an actuator. An enclosure comprises an interior space housing first and second stationary contacts fixedly mounted in spaced relation with one another in one of a normally closed position or a normally open position. A movable contact is received in the opening. A contact spring is captured between the top rib and the bottom rib at either the first or the second end of the opening to bias the movable contact against the top rib and the bottom rib at the other of the first end and second end of the opening.

    • A two-piece doorbell button mounting device for securing doorbell pushbuttons to structures having vinyl siding or stucco. The device includes an enclosure and a cover member. The enclosure includes a peripheral wall, a flange extending from the base of the wall, and projections from the top of the wall. Fasteners may be installed through the flange to secure the enclosure directly to an exposed substrate. Alternately, for installation in finished structures, the flange includes a break away feature that allows it to be broken away from the enclosure. A hole is then cut in the exterior siding or stucco and the enclosure inserted through the hole and against the substrate. Fasteners may then be fed through apertures in the interior of the enclosure to secure the enclosure to the substrate. A cover member including an opening is then secured to the enclosure. Wiring is fed through the enclosure and cover member, connections are completed, and a doorbell button secured to the cover. Apertures may be formed in the cover member and thick wall portions on the projections to enable drilling of apertures to match hole spacing for attachment of a wide variety of doorbell buttons to the cover and enclosure. The two-piece doorbell button mounting device provides an attractive arrangement for securing doorbell buttons to flexible and soft exterior surfaces.
