摘要： A light monitoring circuit for a manual to automatic record player conversion includes a reflected light sensor and an ambient light sensor. The reflected light sensor is used to determine whether a tonearm-raising piston is positioned under a blade secured to the tonearm. The ambient light sensor is used to detect the amount of ambient light. The signals from the ambient light sensor and reflected light sensor are provided to a circuit that modifies the signal from the reflected fight sensor based on the signal from the ambient light sensor, thereby reducing any likelihood of error due to variations in ambient light.

摘要： In a record player, a phonograph record disc is supported in a playing position on a turntable which is rotatably drivable at a selected speed about an axis. The disc, in its playing position, is engageable with a stylus carried by a transducer cartridge which is held in a carriage. The carriage is movable in a guide which defines a line of carriage movement radially of the turntable, the carriage being so movable in response to engagement of the stylus in the record groove. The player includes sensing means comprised of a follower member which is disposed adjacent the carriage and which is drivable along a path parallel to the carriage line for following the movement of the carriage during play of a record. The sensing means is operable for sensing the relative positions along the line and the path of the carriage and of the follower member, and for generating a signal indicative of such relative positions. The follower is driven, in a manner tending to drive the signal to zero, by a stepping motor, the drive pulses of which are counted to derive an indication of the position of the carriage at any time, or for use in driving the carriage via the follower to a predetermined position radially of the turntable. The follower is also a component of a lift mechanism which lifts the cartridge in the carriage, moving the stylus away from a record for traversal of the carriage radially of a record.

摘要： A random access memory system for the storage of digital data in which digital signals are inscribed in a spiral groove on a phonograph record with the specific sequence of signals indicative of a radial location bearing a fixed relation to the radial location where each sequence is inscribed. The disk is supported on a rotating turntable and the digital signals are sensed by a stylus carried on an arm which can be positioned at an appropriate radial position on the disk. Address entry signals corresponding to the digital sequences in the groove are entered into the machine and control the positioning of the arm. An output signal is generated when the digital sequence read by the sensing means corresponds to the entered address. Additional digital information may be stored at specific radial positions identified by the digital addresses and this information is read out by a sensing device, only when the machine has found a match between the entered address and the digital sequence identifying the particular radial position.
