    • A stringed instrument includes a body, a string, a string exciting device and a bridge. The body supports the string, the string exciting device and the bridge. The string has a scale length determined by a distance between a first support point and a second support point. The string exciting device is designed to be driven by an electrical signal having a certain frequency and vibrate the string by applying an excitation signal having a frequency corresponding to the frequency of the electrical signal. The bridge has the first support point and a surface located between the first support point and the second support point and designed to come into contact with the string during vibration of the string.

    • In a stringed instrument which generates sound reproduction output signals by way of a transducer which are amplified for sound reproduction, a fundamentally correct note frequency signal is generated and electromagnetically broadcast by cycles of electromagnetic energy directly from a metallic string to be tuned to the transducer of the instrument, and blends with a correlated note as it issues from the same said vibrating metal string to be tuned, and through discernment by the ear of the user of the resulting blended signal the string is adjusted as necessary to match the two notes and therefore the string is quickly and easily brought into tune with the fundamentally correct note frequency, and when repeated upon each string of said instrument the task of tuning is done.

    • A sustaining device is disclosed for prolonging the vibration of a string of a stringed musical instrument, such as an electrical guitar having a magnetic pickup responsive to a change in the magnetic field caused by vibration of the string. The sustaining device includes the magnetic string driver disposed in magnetic proximity to the pickup. an amplifier is coupled between the pickup and the driver for amplifying current from the pickup to the driver to impart sufficient magnetic drive energy to the driver to produce sustained vibration of the string. An unbalancing device is provided for creating a magnetic imbalance between the pickup and the driver to minimize direct magnetic feedback between the pickup and the driver. This unbalancing device can take the form of an unbalanced pickup, an unbalanced driver, or a shunt plate disposed between the pickup and the driver.
