    • An electronic musical instrument which can be designed compact in longitudinal size and is excellent in acoustic characteristics. A musical instrument main body (1) has at least one keyboard device (12), and left and right lateral side panels (13 and 13′). A musical tone signal is generated by a controller (101) through operation of the keyboard device. The musical tone signal generated by the controller is acoustically converted by at least one speaker (31 or 31′). The musical instrument main body is supported by left and right front legs (2 and 2′) in the vicinity of the left and right lateral side panels of the musical instrument main body. An upper part of each front leg is secured to the musical instrument main body, and a lower part thereof extends to a floor surface on which the electronic musical instrument is placed. The speaker is held in a speaker box (3 or 3′). The speaker box serves as a supporting member that supports a rear side part of the musical instrument main body. The speaker box has a lower part extending to the floor surface to serve as a rear leg.

    • An instrument main body has a keyboard including a plurality of keys and sound generators (for example, speakers) at a rear of the keyboard. At the rear of the keyboard, an upper surface cover portion composed of an upper panel, a operating panel, and so on is provided to cover an upper portion of the instrument main body. In the operating panel, tone escape portions are provided at right and left regions separated in a direction in which the keys of the instrument main body are arranged. Further, a rear panel is erected on the upper panel at a rear of the tone escape portions and having a width equal to or larger than the entire width of the keyboard in the direction in which the keys are arranged and a height larger than the length of the key in its longitudinal direction.

    • An electronic musical instrument has a pivotal cover which mounts an operation panel for controlling the functions of the instrument. Cords for connecting a main electric circuit incorporated in a musical instrument main body and control switches and elements in the operation panel are arranged through a hollow shaft constituting a pivot structure of the cover so that the connecting cords are not exposed to outside of the instrument. A foldable music sheet stand may be provided at an open end of the cover opposite to its pivot structure. When the cover is opened, the music stand can be extracted to stand up above the operation panel.

    • An apparatus for slidingly opening and closing a keyboard lid for covering a keyboard of a keyed instrument between an open position and a close is provided.
