    • In a self-propelled construction machine, specifically, a road milling machine, a surface miner or a recycler, for milling a ground surface, comprising a machine frame with a longitudinal axis, comprising a chassis with wheels or tracked ground-engaging units which support the machine frame, comprising a controller for the travelling and milling operation, comprising a height-adjustable working drum, comprising a slewable transport conveyor arranged in front of or behind the working drum as seen in the direction of travel of the milling machine with a discharge end from which worked-off milling material is dischargeable onto a point of impingement on a loading surface of a means of transport, wherein the transport conveyor is slewable about, as a minimum, a first slewing axis extending essentially orthogonal to the machine frame laterally under a slewing angle, wherein the controller comprises a control system which controls, as a minimum, the slewing angle of the transport conveyor automatically in the travelling and milling operation, it is specified for the following features to be achieved: that the control system, at least as a function of a virtual trajectory for positioning the transport conveyor which is freely specifiable in a stationary coordinate system that is independent of the position and alignment of the machine frame, controls, by means of open-loop control or closed-loop control, at least the slewing angle of the transport conveyor automatically in such a fashion that a reference point of the transport conveyor always remains on the specified trajectory in the case of a change in position of the machine frame within the coordinate system.

    • A mineral winning installation employs a longwall scraper chain conveyor at the mineral face with roof supports arranged at the goaf side of the conveyor. A winning machine, such as a shearer or plough, moves back and forth alongside the mineral face to skim or cut mineral. The machine carries its own drive means which is electrically powered and which drives a pinion, for example, meshing with a toothed rack. An independent constructional assembly arranged at the roof or floor has a multi-sectioned rail or plate carrying the toothed rack. In addition, the rail or plate supports a sealed guard housing containing an electric live track and a further sealed housing containing pressurized water. The machine has a pick-up arm which engages with a contact sliding along the electric track to supply electric power to the drive means and a conduit which has a water collector displaceable along the water housing to supply water to the machine for dust suppression.

    • A mining machine movable along an armoured flexible conveyor each pan of which is provided with a rigid longitudinal guide rod for the machine, the machine having a winch-driven chain guided into a run alongside the guide rods, and each guide rod having a series of pockets housing pegs reciprocable towards and away from the run of the chain, each pocket being open to the chain and at the end remote from the chain open to a longitudinal slot along which a shoe carried by the machine is movable, and the shoe having tapering ends, so that as the shoe moves with the machine in either direction along the guide rods the pegs are urged to project from the pockets into engagement with the links of the chain in the run alongside the guide rods, to effect the driving of the machine along the conveyor.
