摘要： An exemplary shingle includes at least one coated shingle sheet defining a headlap portion and a tab portion each having opposed upper and lower surfaces. A first line of adhesive is adhered to one of the upper surface of the headlap portion and the lower surface of the tab portion, and includes a first thermally activated adhesive material. 摘要： The present concept is a method of roofing a bare roof deck. Asphalt shingles and metal flashings are applied to a wood deck of a roof before flashings and asphalt capping are applied. Metal panels are applied overtop of existing asphalt roof, thereby creating a metal overlay configured such that substantially all of the asphalt shingles are covered with a metal panel for preventing further degradation of asphalt components by shielding from sunlight, UV rays, excessive moisture, snow, wind, ice and fire. No further flashings are installed thereby the metal panel overlay creates a semi-watertight seal wherein the metal panel overlay together with asphalt roof is adapted to create a watertight seal. The present concept is also a method for roofing an existing asphalt shingled roof where metal panels are applied overtop the existing asphalt shingled roof. This creates a metal overlay that covers substantially all of the asphalt shingles for preventing further degradation of asphalt components, and provides a method of preserving an asphalt shingled roof.

摘要： A roof ventilation system for asphalt shingle or composition roofs which include a vent slot located through the roof structure along a roof ridge is provided. An unrollable vent assembly that is installable in one piece is formed from an upper water barrier having first and second vent arrangements connected thereto, and each of the first and second vent arrangements include at least two continuous longitudinal strips of a vent material with a continuous longitudinally extending space therebetween separating the strips. The strips and the longitudinally extending space are positionable on the roof parallel to the ridge so that the first and second vent arrangements are located on each side of the ridge vent slot, respectively. The vent system prevents ingress of moisture and debris, and the upper water barrier extends between the first and second vent arrangements and over the vent slot in the installed position.

摘要： A roofing shingle having a fire-retardant material added to the shingle in specific locations is provided. In one aspect a roofing system with two or more asphalt-coated substrates and a sealant material provided between the substrates is provided. The sealant material adheres an overlying and underlying shingle together and can contain a fire-retardant material. In a second aspect of the present invention, a multi-layer laminated shingle is provided with an adhesive material between one or more asphalt-coated substrates which adheres the asphalt-coated substrates together and can contain a fire-retardant material.
