    • A utility trenching and sidewalk system comprising modular utility sidewalk units which may be assembled together to form a cable trench. The modular units are formed from plastic composite material and include sidewalls, a bottom wall and covers which define a chamber for housing utility cables. A cavity formed in the sidewalls and bottom wall is filled with concrete through apertures in the sidewalls. The covers are removable from the module to provide access to the chamber. The module further includes a recess for receiving a paving material which serves as a sidewalk surface in the installed system.

    • A unitary vent chute and insulation dam body for providing ventilation to an open attic space in a building structure that has a pitched roof and preventing insulating material, particularly loose fill insulation, from blocking that ventilation. The body, formed from a flexible polyolefin foam, includes surface channels, internal conduits or both that promote air flow between a soffit vent and an attic vent in the building structure. The body is flexible enough to bend without breaking, yet stiff enough that one end of the body rests against a roof deck without closing off the surface channels or grooves when the other end is fastened near the top of the structure exterior wall. The body is bent and inserted between adjacent rafters either before or after the end is fastened to the structure exterior wall. Alternatively, the body may be bent partially back upon itself so that one end rests on a portion of the ceiling rather than extending over, and being fastened to, a portion of the top of the structure exterior wall.

    • In a water diversion system, in a preferred embodiment, a first fold of a deflector is disposed into a first hanger cavity and a second deflector fold is disposed into a second hanger cavity. The first fold of the deflector cooperates with the first cavity of the hanger to allow a resistance hinge-like action of the deflector. The deflector may be lifted open by compression of a curve of the deflector to remove the second fold of the deflector from the second hanger cavity. Methods are provided in which, in a preferred embodiment, a deflector-forming machine is disposed above a trough-forming machine and the deflector-forming machine is moveable forward and backward relative to the trough-forming machine. In another preferred method, material cradles for the respective machines are loaded with coil and disposed relative to each other above the deflector-forming machine that is placed above the trough-forming machine as material for the trough-forming machine passes over at least a portion of the material cradle for the deflector-forming machine. Two-armed run-out stands having upper and lower arms provide work placement for lengths of deflector and trough. Preferably, end caps are two-piece, with one piece fitted to a trough length and a second piece fitted to a deflector length.

    • The present invention provides a gutter member (1) for collecting and channelling rainwater or snow-melt run-off at a periphery of a roof structure. The gutter member (1) includes: a channel portion (2) adapted to receive and carry away water flowing from the roof structure; and a cover portion (3) which extends above and at least partially covers the channel portion (2). The cover portion (3) is adapted to support sliding travel of solid or semi-solid material, such as snow and ice, from the roof structure over the channel portion (2) of the gutter member. Preferably, the cover portion (3) extends inwardly from an outer side of the channel portion (2) to at least partially cover it. The cover portion presents an upper bearing surface (10) that extends across more than half and preferably the entire lateral width of the channel portion to act as a bridge for the solid and semi-solid material. The gutter member (1) preferably includes a mounting portion (9) at which the gutter member is adapted to be secured at the periphery of the roof structure, and this mounting portion (9) is preferably an integral extension of the cover portion (3). The present invention also provides a guttering assembly, as well as a shielding device and shielding system incorporating a gutter member according to this invention.

    • A decking assembly is mounted to a building roof or wall to thermally insulate the buildingt. The decking assembly has a first panel with an outside surface and a foil covered inside surface and a second panel having an outside surface and a foil covered inside surface. The foil covered inside surface of the second panel faces the foil covered inside surface of the first panel. At least one spacer is positioned between the panel so as to create an air space defined by the foil covered inside surfaces. The air space has an open inlet and outlet to create a continuous conduit for the flow of air from an entrance side to an exhaust side. The air space can be divided into two separate compartments by a barrier panel that has foil on opposite sides.

    • The present invention taught, enabled, described, illustrated and claimed herein comprises a continuous cover-type debris/fluid separation apparatus which is easily installed in existing, conventional trough-type gutter structures. The apparatus is configured to capture a small amount of water between two ridge features in a what is termed herein a nullstatic pool.null The first ridge is preferably formed adjacent the outer part of the gutter structure and the second ridge is formed adjacent the inner part of the gutter structure (i.e., adjacent a terminal edge of the roof of a building). The first ridge has an apex portion that is preferably is disposed at a higher elevation than an apex portion of the second ridge. The portion of the cover structure disposed between the first ridge and the second ridge thus defines the static pool region. As rainwater flowing from the terminal edge of the roof begins to fill the static pool region the rainwater naturally seeks level. As the static pool rises it first begins to flow over the second ridge toward the building. As a result, the majority of the rainwater flows nullbackwardnull toward the building, over the second ridge and through a gap formed between the cover structure and the gutter, and into the trough portion of the gutter. Meanwhile the leaves and other debris are carried nullforwardnull by the fluid flowing away from the building. Thus, the debris and leaves are urged over the apex feature of the first ridge and past a small gap between the cover structure and the gutter, and ultimately over the lip of the gutter, so that the debris does not enter the trough portion of the gutter. The fluid that accompanies the debris and leaves passes through the small gap and is captured by the gutter.
