摘要： A lubricant blend for use on a wire exposed to an HFC refrigerant. The lubricant blend includes an organic phase and an aqueous phase. The organic phase includes a lubricant which has a defined solubility in the HFC refrigerant and a lubricity suitable for application to the wire. The organic phase also includes a solvent in which the lubricant is soluble and, optionally, a hydrophobic surfactant. The aqueous phase includes a surfactant which forms an emulsion between the organic phase and the aqueous phase, which has a defined solubility in a non-CFC containing refrigerant. A magnetic wire lubricant, method of making the lubricant blend, and compressor using the lubricant blend are also described.

The naked sheets of steel that are treated with said emulsion have very good tribological properties even when the density of the emulsion thus applied is less than or equal to 1 g/m2 when dry. The invention enables dry-looking oiled sheets to be obtained, whereby no re-oiling is required before forming even by die stamping.

摘要： A process for preparing a stable cooling lubricant emulsion for use in the cutting of metals involves the steps of (a) forming a mixture having an oil component, water and an emulsifier with the oil component being emulsified in the water, then (b) dispersing into 100 parts by weight of the mixture by means of high shear from about 1 to about 14 parts by weight of a natural, water-immiscible cutting oil. The stable oil-in-water cooling lubricant emulsion formed has at least 50 percent of the cutting oil present in the form of particles having a diameter of 0.5 to 8 &mgr;m. The cooling lubricant emulsion formed may be used in an extended range of applications.

摘要： Thermally formed thermoplastic articles can be protected from stress cracking in the presence of stress cracking promoting compounds by forming a shaped article comprising a thermoplastic and a liquid hydrocarbon oil composition. We have found that the liquid hydrocarbon oil composition prevents the stress cracking promoting materials from interacting with the polymeric structure of the stressed container to prevent or inhibit stress cracking in such materials. The methods and compositions of the invention are particularly useful in preventing stress cracking in polyethylene terephthalate beverage containers during bottling operations during which the bottle is contacted with aqueous and non-aqueous materials such as cleaners and lubricants that can interact with the polyester to cause stress cracking particularly in the container base. A process for lubricating a container, such as a beverage container, or a conveyor for containers, by applying to the container or conveyor, a thin continuous, substantially non-dripping layer of a liquid lubricant. The process provides many advantages compared to the use of a conventional dilute aqueous lubricant.

The weight ratio of (a) to (b) is from 1:0.3 to 0.3:1. The emulsifier system produces a low amount of foam, and is useful in industrial metal processing applications such as cleaning, corrosion protection or cooling lubricant emulsions.

摘要： A medical lubricant suitable for injection into the blood stream of a patient. The lubricant is suitable for use with rotating equipment such as atherectomy drive shafts moving within sheaths and over guide wires and other minimally invasive medical devices introduced into a patient through a catheter like instrument. The lubricant is an oil-in-water emulsion including a surfactant, a co-surfactant, and a pH buffer. The lubricant can further include a cryogenic agent and a pH adjusting agent. One lubricant includes olive oil as an emulsified oil, egg yolk phospholipid as a surfactant, sodium deoxycholate as a co-surfactant, glycerin as a cryogenic agent, L-histidine as a pH buffer, and is pH adjusted using sodium hydroxide. The lubricant also includes a therapeutic agent. The lubricant can withstand freeze/thaw cycles as well as saline dilution, heating, and shear stress without significant creaming, separation, or unacceptable increases in oil droplet size.
