    • A load carrier 1 of plastic, particularly a storage and transporting box or container as well as a pallet or shelf, is suggested in which a base 2 having a planar upper surface is stabilized on the underside by stiffening ribs 3 and in which flat foot strips 5 lying in the direction of the base plane extend at least along two defining edges 4 of the base 2 running parallel to one another, are supported at a distance below the base plane by webs 6 directed transversely relative to the respective defining edge 4, and form stand surfaces of the load carrier 1, wherein there are free spaces 7, 7a between the underside 2a of the base, the upper side of the foot strips and the transversely directed webs 6, which free spaces 7, 7a are enclosed to form pockets and are open at least toward the defining edge 4.The trouble-free, dynamic use of such load carriers 1 is improved in that the end portions 9 of the flat foot strips 5 are formed by parts 10 which are curved upward transversely relative to their longitudinal direction in the shape of a ski until meeting the underside 2a of the base and have a secure connection 11 at the base 2 and accordingly simultaneously form an end web serving to define a pocket-like free space.

    • Palletized loads utilizing wooden bases having one or more steel bands about the base of the articles loaded or containerized loads having steel or synthetic bands tensioned thereabout to reinforce the container are provided with angle brackets at the corners of the loads about which the steel bands are bent. Each bracket comprises a sheet metal plate formed about an axis to define a pair of angularly related flanges. Each bracket has a pair of shoulders spaced one from the other along the plate to define an area therebetween for prepositioning and retaining the steel strapping when applied to the load. In one form hereof teeth are struck from one flange to lie on the same side thereof as the other flange for embedment into the wooden base or other wooden closure materials utilized to containerize the load. In another form, teeth are struck to provide base, shank and tip portions on one side of the flange whereby the tip portions and portions of the shank may be driven through the slot into the wooden member. In the latter instance, the base portions of the teeth form the shoulders and in others projecting dimples or humps will preposition and retain the retaining strapping on the load.

    • A load-carrying pallet includes a rectangular deck and blocks arranged under the deck to provide runners along its side edges. More blocks are located between the runners, yet are spaced from them to support the center portion of the deck, the endmost of these center blocks being located along the end edges of the deck. Between the ends of the center blocks and the runners are entry slots which extend beneath the deck for the full length of the deck for accepting the tines of a forklift at either end of the deck. Moreover, the center blocks are arranged to provide cross channels which are perpendicular to the entry slots, and these channels align with side entry blocks in the runners. The side entry blocks permit the tines of a forklift to enter the cross channels and pass beneath the deck from either side edge of the deck, thus providing the pallet with the capability of four-way entry. Some of the blocks may be formed in an extrusion process from a cellulose material which is bonded together in a tubular configuration by a resin. Others of the blocks may be cut from paperboard honeycomb material.

    • This invention is concerned with a four-sided pallet container which is used in connection with a bottom section. The pallet container of this invention is particularly suited for use in connection with produce and as a bulk industrial container. The pallet container utilizes a pair of opposing primary panels and a pair of opposing secondary panels. The primary and secondary panels are locked into position by opposing tapers. When positioned in a rectangular or square locking relationship, the primary and secondary panels are rigidly secured in a rectangular or square relationship when pressure is supplied to the underside of said primary panels. The pallet container of this invention can utilize a plurality of bottom sections. After assembly the pallet container of this invention can be readily broken down or disassembled. In disassembly, as a result of the integral, opposing locking taper means the secondary panel can be removed from the primary panel when the secondary panel is lifted approximately one half of the height of the primary panel. The component parts of the pallet container of this invention may be readily formed from polymeric materials.
