    • A motorcycle includes a frame having an upper member, a pair of front members, a pair of lower members, and a pair of rear members. An engine is mounted to the frame with a pair of bolts, one of which is disposed adjacent the front members of the frame, and the other of which is disposed adjacent the lower members of the frame. The rear portion of the engine is mounted to the motorcycle transmission assembly along a vertical interface. The transmission assembly is mounted to a cross member joining the lower members of the frame, to the upper member of the frame with an upper support, and to the rear members of the frame with a swing arm bolt.

    • To provide an engine supporting structure for a motorcycle, which is capable of integrating an engine with a body frame so as to make the engine effectively function as a member for reinforcing the body frame, while preventing the supporting structure of the engine from being affected by disposition of a chain transmission means. One of two hanger portions located on the side opposed to the side on which a chain transmission is disposed with respect to a vehicular center line has an insertion hole in which an enlarged diameter head on one end side of a through-bolt is to be inserted, and a slit portion which is continuous to the inner surface of the insertion hole and which is opened downwardly. A fastening bolt is screwed in the one hanger portion for narrowing the slit portion to reduce the diameter of the insertion hole after the through-bolt is inserted in the hanger portions and a boss portion in a state in which the axial position of the through-bolt relative to the boss portion is adjusted.

    • A power transmission and pedal force sensing system for an electric motor includes an electric motor, a gear reduction train, a pedal force sensing system, and a power combination mechanism. These four mechanisms are concentrically, closely mounted in a single casing. The pedal force sensing system includes a pedal force transmitting sleeve having an elastic device mounted therein, and a pedal force sensing sleeve mounted outside the pedal force transmission path for converting the pedal force into an axial displacement. A proximity sensor is used to detect the axial displacement and outputs a voltage signal representing the magnitude of the pedal force. The power transmission path is shortened and only one casing is required to house all of the elements to thereby obtain a structure of a higher transmission efficiency and reduced volume and weight.

    • A vibration-isolation system for assembly of a motorcycle frame with an engine/transmission unit has a first pivotal mount at a rear portion of the frame and engine/transmission unit, the first mount comprising all rigid bearing components mounted to solid elements of both the frame and the engine/transmission unit, the first mount thereby allowing the engine/transmission unit to rotate around the first mount in substantially a vertical plane of the frame, but allowing no pivotal movement in any other plane or any translation movement in any direction relative to the frame; and a second mount at a front portion of the frame and engine/transmission unit, the second mount incorporating one or more elastomeric elements between a solid interface to the frame and a solid interface to the engine/transmission unit, thereby allowing substantially vertical translation of the engine transmission unit relative to the frame at the second mount, the translation of an amplitude limited by the elastomeric elements, and thereby limiting the rotation of the engine/transmission unit around the first pivotal mount.
