    • A method of manufacturing motor car steering wheels with an external shell made of composite materials, which comprises preparing a pile of sheets of composite materials, hot molding thereof for obtaining respective half-shells with a shape corresponding to that of respective halves of the steering wheel being manufactured, mechanical flattening of the front surfaces of the two half-shells, applying the two half-shells to opposite parts of a steering wheel body formed by a metallic core covered by resin, and mutual fixing of the two half-shells along said front surfaces. After flattening, the front surfaces of the two half-shells are mechanically worked to form respective complementary teeth which can be male-female coupled when the two half-shells are applied around the steering wheel body.

    • A steering wheel cover for covering a section of a steering wheel with at least one covering piece which surround the steering wheel body along the section of the steering wheel to be covered and which may be fixed relative to the steering wheel body by means of a catch connection. The catch connection is produced by the engagement of a catch element with a corresponding catch segment. An additional catch lock with a stop-face may be provided, on which the catch element may rest and which hinders a release of the catch connection.

    • A steering wheel cover includes an annular hollow core layer, a flexible lining layer, and a hook-and-loop fastening unit. A core layer has an inner annular peripheral edge that is formed with a slot therealong to permit access into a receiving space. The core layer further has an outer wall surface, and an inner wall surface with opposing edge parts disposed on opposite lateral edges of the slot. The lining layer has a pair of marginal portions disposed respectively on opposing sides of the covering portion. The marginal portions extend into the receiving space of the core layer via the slot, and overlap respectively the edge parts of the inner wall surface of the core layer. The fastening unit is provided on the edge parts and on the marginal portions to fasten removably the lining layer to the core layer.

    • A decorative strip for automotive bodies, and more particularly, for steering wheel rings, is formed of a thin vinyl substrate with an adhesive coating on one surface and a decorative design on the other. The surface with the decorative design is covered with a coat made of a clear resin. The strip has a generally arcuate shape so that it fits easily on the steering wheel ring thereby improving its esthetic look. Moreover the strip is elastic so that it can be bent as at is applied to the steering wheel thereby conforming naturally to its radius of curvature and forming a smooth and continuous cover without any ridges or other irregularities. In some instances the strip is formed of several parallel sections to allow the strip to adapt better to the curvature of the wheel ring. The sections may have linear lateral edges or the edges may be serrated to form interlocking profiles as the sections are abutted against each other.
