    • A force-limiting rotary lock (20) for a shaft (21) mounted on a housing (22) for rotational and axial movement relative thereto, broadly includes a lug member (28) provided on the shaft, and a pawl (51) mounted on the housing.     • A safety interlock system for a motor vehicle having a braking system capable of actively applying the vehicle brakes with an object sensor capable of detecting the presence of an object such as a pedestrian in the danger zone at the front of the vehicle, a door sensor capable of detecting the open or closed state of the vehicle exit doors, an interlock override switch and a control circuit. The control circuit is capable of activating the safety interlock system when a door open signal is received from said door sensor. When the safety interlock system is activated the control circuit is capable of activating the vehicle brakes to prevent motion of the vehicle when an object signal is received from the object sensor. The control circuit deactivates the safety interlock system at a predetermined time after receiving a door closed signal or an override signal.

    • Elastomer dampers (20) and (120) for damping movement between two relatively moveable members, such as shimmy motion between components in an aircraft landing gear assembly (10). Each damper includes a housing (24) having an internal cavity (36) with a cylindrical interior surface (34) and an opening (41), and a member assembly (28, 128) moveable relative to the housing (24) having an elongated shaft (30) received through the opening (41) with a piston head assembly (32) mounted thereon. The piston head assembly (32, 132) has a annular support element (46, 146) received over the shaft (30) with a sleeve-like elastomer member (48, 148) received over it. The elastomer member (48, 148) engages the interior surface (34) in an interference fit relationship thereby radially precompressing the elastomer element (48, 148) in the range of between about 5% and 15%. In one embodiment of piston head assembly, low friction washers (50a, 50b) are preferably positioned adjacent to the ends of the elastomer member (48) and the support member (46). Rigid washers (54a, 54b) may be provided to abut and support the low friction washers (50a, 50b). The elastomer member (48) preferably has grooves (51) forming a plurality of ribs (53) that are preferably axially oriented. In another embodiment, elastomer member 148 is directly bonded to annular support element 146 and includes at least one continues helical groove (151) around the circumference.

    • A braking device acts on a guide rail and consists of a housing that is arranged at an elevator car yoke and serves as a support for spring packets and/or for adjusting packets. The housing also serves as a support and guide for chock guide elements that in turn retain and guide brake chocks with brake linings. Pushrods engage at one end at the brake chocks, and at the other end are pivotably connected to an actuating fork. Upon braking of the elevator car, the actuating fork is moved at the pushrod end in the direction of the braking device. The guided brake chocks with the brake linings slide in the braking device. At the same time the brake linings are moved at the guide leg of the guide rail. The brake chocks are moved in the braking device and the spring and adjusting packets are stressed, whereby a braking force for stopping an elevator car or a counterweight is generated.
