    • A seat sliding device consisting essentially of an upper rail fixedly mounted on a seat, a lower rail which is fixedly mounted on a vehicle body and has a substantially identical cross section with that of the upper rail, and a rolling member for assisting said upper rail in sliding along said lower rail. Each upper and lower rail has a substantially flat base portion to be mounted on said seat, a pair of side wall portions provided on both side ends of said base portion and which extend at right angles from said base portion, and a pair of flange portions provided on the each end of said pair of side wall portions and which extend at approximate right angles from said side wall portions. Further, the upper and lower rails engaged with each other, thereby forming a seat sliding body which have a unitary cross section in which a longitudinal length and a horizontal length thereof are identical.

    • A wheel chair restraint system and apparatus. The system includes a foldable seat having a bottom connected to a seat back for movement about a pivot axis between a lowered position and a raised position. The apparatus has a frame base connected to a lower surface of the seat bottom. First and second parallel lock pin supports extend from the frame base and have aligned bores for receiving a lock pin. A guide plate extends from the frame base and cooperates with the first lock pin support to define a space for receiving the wheel to be restrained. The lock pin is movable by a first spring from a retracted position to an engaged position in which the lock pin is supported by the lock pin supports and has a first end protruding beyond the first lock pin support to restrain movement of a wheel. A lever is provided for moving the lock pin back into its retracted position to allow release of the wheel. An interlock plate has a first portion secured to the first lock pin support for movement between a blocking position holding the lock pin in its retracted position and a release position spaced from the bore of the first lock pin support. A second portion of the interlock plate is positioned in the space in such manner that a wheel inserted into the space moves the interlock plate, against the force of a second spring, into its release position so that the lock pin automatically moves into its engaged position.

    • A seat adjusting mechanism, arranged to be operated by an electric motor, for use with a motor vehicle seat is disclosed. The seat adjusting mechanism is supported by at least two slide tracks which extend along the length of the seat and which are placed through glide tracks each spaced away from the vehicle floor. The seat adjusting mechanism comprises at least one rack situated on one of said guide tracks and extends along the length of the guide track. The rack has one end connected by means of a connecting body to the slide track lying above it. The rack contains a long slot which has teeth formed on one side thereof for contacting a pinion which is situated to engage the teeth and is connected to an electric motor for movement of the seat adjusting mechanism. The width of the long slot in the rack serves to retain the pinion in engagement with the teeth of the slot.

    • Track fastener apparatus for use in anchoring seats or cargo with a locking track that has a slot with spaced cut-out portions extending through the upper surface of the locking track from one side to the opposite side. The track fastener apparatus includes a housing and two track studs that are secured to the underside of the housing whose end portions are adapted to be received by the spaced cut-out portions. The track studs each have a shank portion that is adapted to slide within the slot in the locking track. The track fastener apparatus also includes a locking screw that has threads which are received by the threads of an aperture in the central portion of the housing and a track wedge member connected to the lower end portion of the locking screw which is shaped to have a portion thereof fit within the cut-out portions and another adjacent flange portion that rests upon the surface of the upper surface of the locking track that is adjacent to the cut-out portions when the locking screw is in its downward or locked position. Two nonmetallic track slide members are located on the underside of the housing so that these members will rest upon the upper surface of the locking track when the track fastener apparatus is located on the locking track. The track fastener apparatus also has features that indicate when it is in its unlocked condition.
