    • A system is provided for the throttle control of a multi-combination vehicle operable by a driver where said vehicle includes at least two engines each engine operable by an independent throttle. One of the throttles is controlled by a standard throttle pedal, the other by a hand-controlled throttle. Under conditions of severe braking the second throttle is caused to be disregarded by the second engine that is forced to an idle position. Further, the second throttle can only become operable when the second throttle has been manually reset to a pre-determined position, generally the idle position. The system is appropriate in cases where the driver may be forced to apply emergency braking and is not able to control the hand throttle to ensure that the second engine does not continue to drive the vehicle. A further improvement to the invention lies in the fact that under emergency braking the transmission system coupled with the second engine, generally automatic, is forced to convert mode to protect the transmission from damage.

    • A shifting device (1) is provided for the mechanical coupling-free transmission of shift commands to an automatic transmission of a motor vehicle (shift-by-wire shifting), with at least one housing and/or one frame and one selector lever for the manual selection of shift commands for the vehicle transmission in at least one shift gate. This mechanical coupling (16) activates the parking brake exclusively and automatically when the selector lever (2) is engaged in the P position and is automatically uncoupled from the selector lever when the selector lever (2) is pivoted out beyond the adjacent position.

    • A simple foot operated mechanism for controlling both throttle and brakes of a motor vehicle is disclosed. The throttle is controlled by pivoting foot at the ankle. A locking mechanism is used, which provides rigid support for the driver's foot while operating the throttle. The brakes are applied by pushing the heel down to release the locking mechanism, and straightening the knee. The leg movement from accelerating to braking is a natural and smooth one, and in a natural way cuts the fuel to the engine before brakes are applied. Once brakes are applied it is possible to open the throttle valve without necessarily releasing brakes.
