The display includes an uneven-structure-forming layer having an uneven structure on one surface and a reflecting layer that covers at least part of an unevenly structured surface. In the display, the uneven-structure-forming layer includes a first region group including a plurality of first regions, each first region including a flat part and a plurality of convexities or a plurality of concavities, the top surface of each of the convexities or the bottom surface of each of the concavities is substantially parallel to a surface of the flat part; distances between the centers of adjacent convexities or concavities are not equal; the convexities have a uniform height, or the concavities have a uniform depth; the first region group is formed, with the first regions arrayed inside at a regular pitch.

摘要： A color shifting heat transfer label includes a carrier and a color design layer on the carrier. The color design layer is formulated from an ink having a color shifting effect. The color design layer is configured to separate from the carrier to define a color shifting feature that is adhered to a target object upon application of heat and pressure. The color shifting feature is adhered to the target object to define a plane defined by the color shifting feature such that the color shifting feature exhibits a first color when viewed from an angle of about 90 degrees relative to the plane defined by the color shifting feature and a second color, different from the first color when viewed from an angle of about 45 degrees or less relative to the plane defined by the color shifting feature.

摘要： Materials for, and methods of, colorizing a metallic surface with micro-gratings using vibration cutting technologies are provided. Micro-gratings on aluminum, brass, and stainless steel surfaces can be rapidly created to effect, under illumination, at least one color observable in the visible spectrum using elliptical vibration texturing, a vibration-assisted mechanical cutting process. The modified metallic surface can display multiple visible colors, an iridescent effect caused by changes in one or more cutting parameters employed to produce the micro-gratings, the angle of illumination by an incident light, and/or the viewing angle of the surface under illumination.

摘要： A new method to produce solid nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC) films containing patterns by differential heating of aqueous suspensions of NCC has been discovered. When acid-form NCC suspensions are dried by heating to temperatures above 50° C., darkening of the NCC can occur, while neutral forms of NCC can produce iridescent chiral nematic films by heating to temperatures up to 105° C. Placing materials of different thermal conductivity beneath the container containing an evaporating NCC suspension results in watermark-like patterns of different iridescent colour imprinted within the film structure. Other colloidal rod-like particles can be employed in place of nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC), for example chitin or chitosan.
