    • The present invention provides an apparatus and method for processing lined caps. The method includes the step of molding at an elevated temperature a liner having a raised sealing ring inside the cap, and advancing a stream of lined caps from a first position to a second position, while supplying cooling air to the lined caps to cool the liner and form a skin at least on an upper surface of the sealing ring. The method may further include the step of applying a vacuum to remove undesirable gases from the liner. The vacuum can also be applied within the raised sealing ring to create suction to lift properly formed lined caps from the advancing stream. The cooling, gas removal, and inspection steps can occur at the cap processing rate. The present invention further provides an apparatus for processing a bottle cap. The apparatus includes a plurality of rotary turntables for sequentially cooling, inspecting, and removing the bottle caps. The first turntable receives the lined caps from the molding machine at a first position, and advances the lined caps to a second position through an enclosure with cooling air. The second turntable includes inspection stations at spaced circumferential positions and a vacuum pump for directing a vacuum to the inspection stations. The vacuum creates suction that lifts the lined cap into contact with the station. If the lined cap is properly formed the suction keeps the cap in contact with the station, if not the cap falls out of contact with the station. Properly formed caps are removed from their elevated position at the third turntable.

    • There is provided a process for producing a multi-layer molded product having a plurality of thermoplastic resin layers. This process provides for (i) a step of supplying first and second molten thermoplastic resins each through first and second resin supplying gates which are temperature-controllable independently of each other, to between female and male molds kept in an open state with a time difference being provided between supply starts of the first and second resins, and (ii) a step of closing the female and male molds after completion of supply of the first and second resins. The process enables production of high-quality multi-layer molded products having a plurality of resin layers with good repeatability under relatively low resin supply pressure and by single mold closing. Further, high-quality multi-layer molded products can readily be produced without restrictions on materials used.

    • In a method and device for molding a laminated molded assembly by simultaneously forming a resin core member and integrally joining a surface skin member in a die assembly for mold press forming comprising an upper die and a lower die, the moldability of the surface skin member is improved by softening the surface skin member by blowing hot air against the surface skin member from air holes provided in the upper die which is associated with the surface skin member. As a result, the surface skin member can favorably conform to the surface contour of the die surface and the resin core member. Optionally, vacuum suction may be applied to the surface skin member to draw it against the corresponding die surface so as to eliminate the possibility of creating localized gaps between the surface skin member and the corresponding die surface. Further, by blowing air of either high temperature or ambient temperature from the air holes provided in the upper die to facilitate the removal of the laminated molded assembly from the upper die, the speed of the molding process can be increased, and the damages and deformation of the laminated molded assembly can be avoided.

The outer mold 12 is contracted in the radial direction by pressure applied thereto. Accordingly, the structural components of the crawler 10 are vulcanized.

    • A method and apparatus for making insignias with a raised design is capable of providing more aesthetic appearance to the insignias thus made. A base material consisting of a base sheet and a surface sheet overlaying the base sheet is prepared for making into an insignia. The base material is coating with a surface coating of decorative material. A bottom mold and an upper mold are used to press the base material to form raised design of patterns. The bottom and upper molds are coupled to a composite heating device including high-frequency induction and electric heating means for applying both high-frequency induction heat and electric heat to the base material while the upper molding is being pressed against the bottom mold. The upper mold is formed with a plurality of edge-defining blades for cutting an edge for the insignia, a plurality of pattern-defining blades for forming a pre-designed pattern on the insignia. During the pressing, the composite heat is concurrently applied to the upper and bottom mold so as to cut and melt away part of the surface sheet to form the pattern. The remnants cut away by the pattern-defining blades can be easily removed by brushes. The final product is an insignia with raised design of patterns with shining appearance.
