摘要： A hearing aid instrument of the in-the-ear type (and preferably CIC) provides a plate member with electronic hearing aid components mounted thereto. The plate member is preferably of a harder material such as hard plastic. A soft polymeric body is bonded to the plate member and encapsulates preferably a plurality of the electronic hearing aid components. The body is soft and is shaped to conform to the ear canal of the user. The soft polymeric body and encapsulated electronic hearing aid components define a soft structure compliant to the ear canal during use and that is substantially solid and free of void spaces between at least some of the components and the ear canal. This combination of soft compliant structure and encapsulated electronic hearing aid components addresses problems of peripheral leakage, poor fit, pivotal displacement that occurs with jaw motion and internal cross talk of components housed in prior art hollow type hearing aids.

摘要： A method and apparatus for producing an injection moulded plastics article comprises introducing a supply of plastics material (20) into a mould space (13), supplying a first stream of pressurised fluid into the molten plastics material to form a fluid containing cavity (25) therein, maintaining fluid pressure in the cavity until the plastics material can sustain the form dictated by the mould surface. During the step of maintaining fluid pressure in the cavity, at least a portion of the first stream of pressurised fluid is vented or allowed to vent from the cavity, and simultaneously a second stream of pressurised fluid from a second source (26; 40; 41) is supplied to the cavity, which second stream replaces that portion of the first stream which has vented from the cavity.

摘要： The apparatus is for forming a resin film from a resin for a middle portion to form a resin film main body of the resin film and a resin for edge portions to form both side edge portions in a crosswise direction of the resin film. The apparatus comprises: a feed block which includes a joining part where the resin for the middle portion in a molten state and the resin for the edge portions in a molten state are joined in such a manner as to enclose both side edges in the crosswise direction of the resin film main body with the resin for the edge portions; and an extruding die through which the joined resins are extruded to form the resin film. Thus, a method and apparatus for forming the resin film can avoid the inclusion of the resin for the middle portion in the trimmed-off selvages while preventing the film separation of the resins for the middle portion and for the edge portions, and therefore, increase the recyclability and the productivity of the resin film.

摘要： Improvements in increasing the amount of available silver in thermoplastic articles comprising certain silver-containing antimicrobial agents are provided. Such an invention requires the incorporation of a sufficient amount of a carboxylic acid salt within the thermoplastic article simultaneously with the necessary silver-containing antimicrobial agent. Certain carboxylic acid salts are standard acid scavengers for thermoplastic applications; however, the amounts required within this inventive thermoplastic article is well in excess of that commonly added within such articles. Surprisingly, such an excess amount of such standard salts, as well as other non-standard salts, present within the target thermoplastic causes the release of greater amounts of silver to the target article's surface, thereby permitting a greater degree of antimicrobial activity, among other potential benefits for such an increase in surface-available silver. Methods of forming such inventive thermoplastics are also encompassed within this invention.
